The RSVP transportation programs are funded through the 85.21 DOT grant to provide transportation services to elderly and disabled adults. This program is referred to as “RSVP” since most volunteers are retired. This does not mean that you have to be a senior or retired in order to participate. We welcome all qualified applicants to join us, in assisting our local seniors to get where they need to be. Trips give priority to medical appointments and nutritional needs, but there are other purposes for transportation. A person who is unable to drive themselves may need to purchase essentials such as socks and underwear, get a haircut, visit a friend across town, go to the library, mail a package, pick up medication, or go to a senior center for socialization. Your assistance could make a world of difference for someone’s overall physical and mental health well-being. Contact Amber Anderson, Transportation Coordinator at 715-635-4460 to volunteer.

Is there mileage reimbursement for volunteers?
Home Delivered Meals drivers and RSVP drivers will be given the following options for mileage reimbursement:

If using your own vehicle:
 Option 1: Complete and turn in the monthly Travel Expense Voucher and receive the current Federal Reimbursement Rate of .56 cents per mile. Since this reimbursement option is over the allowable non-taxable volunteer rate of .14 cents per mile, once total reimbursement over .14 cents per mile equals $600 or more within any fiscal year, you will be issued a 1099 at the end of that year, which is reportable income for tax purposes.
 Option 2: Complete and turn in a monthly Travel Expense Voucher and receive the current Federal Volunteer Non-Taxable Reimbursement rate of .14 cents per mile.
 Option 3: Opt-out of receiving a volunteer mileage reimbursement, but remain eligible to deduct “out of pocket” expenses incurred in providing donated services up to .14 cents per mile when filing taxes.

If using a county vehicle:
 Option 1: Complete and turn in a monthly Travel Expense Voucher and receive the Federal Volunteer Non-Taxable Reimbursement rate of .14 cents per mile.
 Option 2: Opt-out of receiving a volunteer mileage reimbursement, but remain eligible to deduct “out of pocket” expenses incurred in providing donated services up to .14 cents per mile when filing taxes. There would most likely not be any expenses incurred.
