The Ikorodu destitute centre in Owutu Lagos State is a residential facility set up by the Lagos State Government to house the homeless and people with mental instability. Weekly, the government officials drive around the state and take these people off the streets and bring them to the centre where they are either identified and released to their relatives or kept there indefinitely. Currently, there are 1,782 individuals residing in this centre comprising of women, children and men. The government provides them with shelter, meals and healthcare but this is grossly inadequate hence our support to the home. The Obijackson Foundation embarks on weekly soup kitchen support to all the residents of the centre during which we dish out cooked meals and interact with the residents. We also provide infant formula for the little ones, donate diesel for powering their generating set to enable them pump water and provide drug supplies to their clinic. Once in a while, we also donate clothing and sanitary items to all the residents of this home.
It is important one volunteers for this event as you get to embark on one of the purest forms of charity an individual can provide to his fellow man. These people not only need material support but also alot of emotional support and interaction with you can help provide this and give them hope for the future.

Bristol Township Senior Center, in conjunction with our local Parks and Recreation department, will be hosting our “Bristol Township Fall Festival" on Friday, September 20 and Saturday, September 21, 2019. Our Fall Festival Health Fair on Friday offers important free health screenings and information to the 50+ senior community. Then our intergenerational Fall Festival on Saturday brings all ages together to celebrate the beginning of fall with healthy and fun activities. We provide scarecrow making workshops, various fall craft activities, games, food, entertainment and more during the fall festival. This is in addition to the bounce houses, hayrides, entertainment and other activities offered in conjunction with our local parks and recreation. This year, Bristol Township is widely expanding recreational opportunities for all ages. Construction in the municipal complex, in which we are located, has been ongoing since February. The 2019 Fall Festival is of particular importance to our center, as we have had to cancel some major fundraisers and lost income due to construction. The good news is we will be celebrating the project nearing completion during the two day event and introducing new activities that will be offered once the project is completed in early October. Bristol Township Senior Center offers important services, including Meals on Wheels deliveries, innovative health promotion programs, a wide variety of services, creative programs and also socialization to prevent isolation. In addition, we offer a wide variety of intergenerational opportunities that puts our senior’s wisdom, skills and experience to work in the community.Available Shifts
