The Meals on Wheels Thrift Store is our year round fundraiser to help provide meals to the homebound. 100% of our income goes to the mission. We are not government funded and the store provides 1/3 of our income. Opportunities in the thrift store are bagging, hanging & tagging clothes, stocking shelves with donations and straightening our store so customers can find and buy merchandise. All volunteers are directed by Meals on Wheels staff. We have 2 shifts: Morning Shift 9am to 12pm and Afternoon shift 12pm to 3pm. We like to be organized and clean so our volunteers have an enjoyable experience while helping the homebound.

Smiles are Rewarding! When you deliver a meal to a homebound person you can see just how it helps them survive and remain independent in their own comfortable home. Volunteer Meal Delivery Drivers arrive at the Meals on Wheels meal pickup location between 9:30 to 11am depending on the location. We have 6 pickup locations depending on your area. You will pickup a hot cooler and a cold cooler with items for their daily meal which include a meat, starch, 2 vegetables, bread, drink, dessert and soup or salad depending on the day. You will deliver the meals in your own vehicle. This usually takes from 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours to 8 to 15 people depending on the route. If you are limited on your time please indicate to us and we can provide a shorter route. You can just leave the meal with the recipient at the door or visit with them briefly as you have time. After delivering meals you will return the coolers to the pickup location. If you have questions at any time or comments about a recipient our office is available to help you by calling 863-299-1616. We appreciate our caring volunteers!

Would you like to spend time with a senior care recipient in Sammamish - engaging in conversation, going for a short walk, completing a jigsaw puzzle - while ensuring a dedicated caregiver some much needed respite?

Would you enjoy supporting a family caregiver whose hope it is to find care companionship for her mother while she takes some time to be with friends?

Volunteer hours are generally flexible but if you have availability on the weekend or weekday afternoon that would be ideal.

Meet other volunteers while sharing this opportunity by being a part of a small team in the Sammamish area.

Consider applying to the Care Teams program today!

Volunteer Care Teams provide caregivers an opportunity for much-needed respite and self-care by working together with other volunteer team members to provide social, emotional, and practical support, helping to alleviate social isolation and caregiver burnout.

No minimum experience needed; Training and ongoing support provided.

As one caregiver said of her Care Team: "I truly am grateful for our team. Their kindness and their readiness to provide meaningful interaction with my husband [the care recipient] has been greatly beneficial to me not feeling isolated and alone. This week your team allowed me to see people I had not seen since before the Pandemic. All of the team is warm, friendly, and compassionate."

All volunteers must be at least 18 years old, currently residing in WA state.
