Animal House Project has been operating a companion pet food pantry since 2010 but we seem to be missing a void by not being able to help home-bound seniors and the disabled who have pets and need to obtain food for them as well. For 2018, we would like to create a division within Animal House that addresses the needs of the home-bound by delivering pet food to those that need it. This is a grassroots idea but one that has been proven in other areas of Philadelphia. The coordinator would work with the Board and the President to find volunteers, food, grants as well as to work with the local Human Meals on Wheels Program managers to assess the need and to execute the program

Animal House Project serves families that are facing financial problems but love and want to keep their companion pets at home and that is why our services and programs are so critical to the communities that we serve. The problem is that many that need help just do not know that we exist and can help. We are looking for someone that can reach out to the churches, the human food pantries and organizations in general and let them know what we can do to help their current clients. We have made tremendous strides in reducing the pet populations that are surrendered but we still need to do more but need help.

Through our Pediatric Massage Volunteer Program, Buds to Blossoms brings international teams of volunteers to Kathmandu, Nepal each year.We are currently looking for volunteers to provide gentle massage to AIDS orphans, other children affected by HIV/AIDS, orphans with disabilities and other disadvantaged children.
During this volunteer program you will:
* live in Kathmandu, Nepal for 1-3 weeks
* receive basic instruction in massage for children
* learn to provide massage in ways that not only deliver important health benefits but also communicate to children they are safe, loved, and respected
* get a tremendous amount of hands-on experience providing massage to children with HIV/AIDS and disabilities
* experience the joy of offering nurturing, therapeutic touch to children who have a great need for the care you can provide
Most of our work is not highly technical. Instead, it flows naturally from our capacity to reach out to others with warmth. While experience with children and massage may be helpful, it is not required for participation in this program.
Some of the children live in orphanages where there are relatively few adult caregivers and volunteer help is crucial to meeting their needs.
Massage is of particular value to the children we work with because its immune system-strengthening effect may improve their compromised health. The massages we provide to orphans with disabilities improve their mobility and lessen the discomfort of perpetually-contracted muscles. Massage also promotes the children's well-being by bringing relief from pain and anxiety and helping meet their emotional and developmental needs for one-on-one nurturing attention and touch.
Visit www.budstoblossoms.org to select program dates from the calendar and send in your application form. If you want more information before applying, please contact us via the “Contact” form on our website.
We look forward to sharing this incredibly rewarding, therapeutic and fun experience with you and the children.

We rely on our amazing volunteers to help with many aspects of our guide and service dog operations. Volunteers are the lifeblood of any not-for-profit organization, and without the dedication, commitment, and support of these giving individuals, the Guide Dog Foundation could not accomplish our mission. Last year, our volunteers donated more than 4.5 million hours of their time to help us serve people with disabilities. Our volunteer family includes puppy raisers, individuals who act as advisers on our board of directors, work in our kennels, and host events to raise money for our programs. They help out in the office or transport puppies and adult dogs. They also go on speaking engagements and lead tours, help serve meals when class is in session, and socialize with students during free time.
