HHC Community Outreach puts on a drive-thru light park annually out at Binder Park in Jefferson City. This light park is a fundraising event for Homemaker Health Care. Homemaker Health Care is a non-profit that loans medical equipment out to the elderly and persons with disabilities free of charge. We are currently needing volunteers to help us set up the light displays out at Binder Park beginning in November. We also are needing volunteers to help run the event starting December 1st. The event runs from December 1st - December 31st. 6pm to 9pm. Closed on Mondays. The volunteers would help take donations, direct traffic, handout treats to kids, and many other tasks.Available Shifts

We will be hosting our annual "free" Christmas Event for our clients with ID/DD and their families. We will have a dinner, hand out Christmas gifts and share our organizations yearly activities report. Hosting this event gives families that care for their loved ones with ID/DD a chance to enjoy themselves, have a meal provided for them and watch their loved ones eyes shine as they receive their gifts. Our DC Walk to Defeat ALS will be held on Saturday, October 13 at the Washington Monument Grounds. With over 2,500 attendees, we need all of the help we can get! Its more than a walk; its a celebration event for the community, and families battling ALS.As a volunteer, you will assist with overseeing booths, such as the kids' zone, food tent, registration tent, etc. As well as assist with some hands on tasks, such as serving on our cheering team, face painting for kids, distributing t-shirts, and food etc.
Our Walk to Defeat ALS Signature Program helps raise funds, and awareness for Amyothrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) which is commonly known as Lou Gehrigs Disease. More than just a few-mile trek. The walk to Defeat ALS is an opportunity to bring hope to people living with ALS, and to come together for something you care about. Thanks to the funds raised by this signature program, our chapter is able to sustain FREE programs, and services to nearly 700 individuals, and military veterans living with ALS, and their families.

Our vision is a community where people with disabilities are active participants in the labor force. One time each year, we host a celebration to recognize their achievements & honor them in overcoming challenges with mental and physical disability. Our Shining Stars event with 525 attendees in 2017 will be held on 12/2/18 at the John Knox Village Pavilion. Lindsey Anderson from KSHB TV will emcee. There will be a catered dinner, dancing, raffle sales and awards to our individuals with disabilities. Each day these freedoms are taken away from kids and adults with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases that weaken muscle strength and limit mobility. Together, we can change that.This year will mark the 7th Annual Night of Hope Gala to benefit MDA which will be celebrated on Saturday, October 13th at the beautiful Columbia Winery. We would like to invite you to be a part of this special event.
By supporting the Night of Hope Gala to benefit MDA you show your dedication to providing support, services and a sense of freedom and independence to more than 3,000 kids and adults affected by muscle disease in the
Washington and Alaska.
Night of Hope features an exciting live and silent auction. By supporting the Night of Hope as a volunteer you’ll be:
• Assisting kids and adults affected by one of the 43 neuromuscular diseases covered by the Association such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
• Aligning with an event that is a proven success. In 2017, the Night of Hope attracted a crowd of close to 200.

Dia de los Perros includes food trucks, vendor booths, pet-related demonstrations, TONS of raffle prizes, music, family-friendly activities, and a trick-or-treat scavenger hunt for people and dogs!This event is a fundraiser for Canine Angels Service Teams, a non-profit that provides highly-trained assistance dogs for children and young adults who have special needs. Dia de los Perros helps our program bring in much-needed funding, and share with the community what our amazing dogs can do to make lives better for special kiddos and their families.
