WHY: We're excited to put on our 2nd annual benefit event to power the TangoStride Program, providing our amazing students with hope and the opportunity to leave their walkers, wheelchairs and canes behind in our weekly classes! Our annual fundraiser is where we raise the bulk of our funds that allow us to ensure that money is never a barrier for anyone who can benefit to participate in our classes (we have never turned anyone away for lack of funds!).VOLUNTEERS: This is a big project that takes a village, so we're seeking volunteers to help day of the event from 12-6pm with set-up, food, beverages, silent auction, tear-down, etc. Please contact us at hugsthatempower@gmail.com to join our team of volunteers.

Opportunity Details
GAIT TRC strives to promote independence and self-confidence for people with special needs through the use of adaptive riding and horsemanship skills. Volunteers are essential to the success of GAIT’s programs and to enriching the lives of participants.GAIT depends on its volunteers to not only help run a safe and successful program, but also to foster the bonds between horse and rider for their therapeutic benefit. Volunteers assist PATH Intl. Certified Instructors during therapeutic riding classes and act as a member of a team with the horse and rider to help achieve their goals.
GAIT’s most popular program, Therapeutic Riding, runs from Jan- Nov and relies heavily on the assistance of volunteers to ensure a safe, fun, and educational experience for the riders involved.
Volunteers tend to work in outdoor conditions for extended periods of time, work with large animals, and work with individuals with a wide range of special needs. TR classes are scheduled on Monday evenings, Wednesday evenings, and Saturday mornings.

Victory Therapy Center is holding its monthly Orientation Training on Saturday, September 21, 2019, from 12:00-3:00. At this training session, we will teach volunteers how to groom and tack horses, how to act as a side walker, how to be a horse handler, and give volunteers an overview of our facility and therapeutic riding. After training, we will assign volunteers to work in classes that fit their schedule. We have day, evening and weekend classes that will need volunteers.Volunteers who would like to attend this Orientation Training session can sign up by emailing Karey Bourgeois at karey@victorytherapy.org. At the Orientation Training, you will be asked to complete our Volunteer registration forms, which include a background check.
On the day of the Orientation Training Session, we ask Volunteers to wear close-toed shoes, a water bottle and comfortable clothes that they do not mind getting dirty. In addition, please bring $15 for the background check.
We have plenty of opportunities for anyone looking to donate their time and talent. Horse experience is NOT necessary.

This is our annual Superhero 5K, 1 Mile Walk and Kids Dash for Down syndrome. With almost 700 people in attendance there are a variety of volunteers needed to make this event successful. Most are needed the day of the event but a few are needing in the days leading up to the event. Opportunity Details
The Program Leader is the key volunteer overseeing their assigned program planning and execution. Programs meet on a consistent schedule, set by the local Playhouse Program Committee, either meeting on a weekly or monthly basis. The Program Leader works collaboratively with the Program Coordinator and Site Coordinator to provide a high quality, outcome-driven programs according to the program models developed by GiGi’s Playhouse. This volunteer position requires a commitment of 1.5-6 hours per month, depending on the length and frequency of the assigned program, and includes the following responsibilities:* Serves as the lead volunteer at the assigned program, responsible for planning purposeful, goal-oriented activities for each session which fills the allotted program time, as well as additional activities to promote skill-development (back up plan)
* Prepares the program space/ environment for program activities, including making sure age-appropriate (high energy) music is playing at all times, the Playhouse is presentable and organized, creates an atmosphere of celebration and acceptance, refreshments provided as needed
* Ensures program activities motivate participants and families to reach high expectations and give their "best of all", track participant "best of all" from week to week/ month to month
* Ensures each program session has a structured beginning and ending activity
* Facilitates program activities between the parent and child to promote parent education, encourages skills practice at home and between program sessions
* Welcomes new families, congratulates the family on their new baby and carries out the process for working with new families before/after the program or delegates a trained volunteer to do so
* Greets families, fully engages each program participant/ family in the program activities
* Ensures each participant and volunteer signs in every time they enter the Playhouse, and explain the importance of sign in to families, volunteers and visitors
* Acts as a resource for families, answers questions regarding program activities, GiGi’s Playhouse, and the Program Leader’s area of expertise/ therapeutic specialty to collaborate in guiding participants meet their "best of all".
* Delegate responsibilities to assisting volunteers, such as taking pictures, monitoring sign in, set up of program supplies and refreshments, clean up, etc.
* Recognizes assisting Volunteers (verbally) for their work and commitment to the GiGi’s Playhouse families, gives suggestions/ feedback to Volunteers on their performance as appropriate
* Completes the Program Leader Checklist at the end of each program
* Completes the Program Report (Form F) at the end of each program to document program activities, participation and any challenges/ successes which may have presented.
* Attends and participates in Annual Program Leader Trainings
* Responds to program phone calls, emails and inquiries in a timely and professional manner
* Communicates with Site Coordinator and Program Committee to ensure successful program delivery
Experience/ Qualifications:
The Program Leader role is a "hands on", active role and requires a Volunteer with the following skill set:
* Education and work experience in the specific therapeutic techniques or educational themes of the assigned program (ie. "Crawlers" program is led by a physical therapist, handwriting program led by an occupational therapist, etc.)
* Excellent communication skills, positivity and enthusiasm for GiGi’s Playhouse

Residents of the Kin On skilled nursing facility can greatly benefit from interaction with community members and often look forward to seeing new faces. As a volunteer with Resident Activities, you may help assist in arts & crafts, resident outings, and more.
