DESC receives donations of clothing and other supplies at our donation center located in the Columbia City area of Seattle that then need to be sorted and organized to ensure our DESC programs can access and provide essential resources to our DESC clients across our housing, shelter, and outreach programs. Groups are needed periodically to help with larger-scale sorting needs or with organizing these supplies and cleaning the donation center spaces to help accommodate future incoming donations. Because these goods are utilized by all programs at DESC, it is a great way for a group of 10 - 25 people to be able to make an impact across the entire organization with their time. Weekdays are preferred, and dates/times are flexible. Typically this activity is 2 - 3 hours in length, but the date, time, and shift length will be determined through correspondence with your team lead.

PARTICIPANTS: Minimum of 10 volunteers - maximum of 25 (FLEXIBLE) / Facilitated at DESC by DESC representative. We can offer 2 sessions in October.

LOCATION: This opportunity will be completed in person at DESC's Donation Processing Center located in Columbia City area of Seattle

DURATION: Shifts typically range in timeframe from 2 - 3 hours (timeframe determined by group's preferences). M - F shifts between 9AM - 4PM preferred, but can also discuss other options if needed. Reach out to coordinate possible dates and times for this activity.

GEOGRAPHIC REACH: DESC provides housing to our neighbors in need with 17 permanent supportive housing locations across the Seattle area. We recently opened our first location outside of Seattle in the Burien community. We also provide vital services to those experiencing homelessness across all of King County.

No funding required

For those that we serve, the holiday season can be especially tough.
