AlManarah believes that sport can be an empowering activity that carries a message of hope, friendship, compassion and social change to the world. Therefore, in March 2017, we launched our first Tandem biking group in cooperation with the Israeli group CanVelo. We named it Co-Vision, because in our group all people - women and men, Arabs and Jews, people with and without disabilities share the same vision. In the project we have 12-15 participants with visual disabilities and matching "captain" biking volunteers from Nazareth and the surrounding villages.
The Tandem biking group meets every week on Sundays or Saturdays. AlManarah staff member coordinates the group in advance via phone and mail, etc.
Usually at 7.30 we meet in front of the AlManarah offices in Nazareth with our cars and pick up the people with disabilities and then drive to the designed park or place for biking (sometimes we change places in nature to make it more interesting).
The activity is supported by private donors - the CanVelo group that brings and borrows the Tandem bikes, helmets etc. and is based on volunteerism.

Currently we are seeking additional volunteers to become Tandem bike captains to run this successful, pleasant and healthy endeavor. A Tandem bike captain is a person who is the leader, the first person on the tandem - double bicycle and leads the biking trip, helps and assists its disabled partner. Group instructions are always given before each trip. Water, sport clothing, good mood is all you need, some Arabic language could be an advantage. It is also great help if you could bring your own car so the capacity for transporting the people with disabilities - our tandem biking partners increases.
Thank you!
