This Twitter for Good Day, let one of our Meals on Wheels homebound seniors or an adult with disabilities know that their community cares about them. Every year since 1970, our volunteers have made and distributed handmade cards! Especially now during the COVID-19 crisis, these cards can help lift spirits as many seniors are isolated and alone. Each month we pack a card into every client’s meal that is safely delivered by one of our drivers. Help us reach our goal of receiving 1000 more cards by the end of May. You will have fun tapping into your artistic side, plus you’ll feel good knowing that you’re making a difference in the lives of so many of the elderly in our community. #twitterforgood

The Arc, in collaboration with Twitter for Good Day would like to organize a day of service around social justice with the Arc SF participants and members of the Arc CAC (Client Advocacy Council). The intent is to help participants set up Twitter accounts and maximize usage. After helping create accounts, volunteers will orient participants on best ways to engage, follow, and create content regarding social justice issues. Volunteers will culminate with a panel discussion conversation around the social justice issue to be announced. This discussion will be led by members of the CAC with a potential guest(s) from Twitter (or identified by Twitter staff) to be subject matter experts in a social justice topic.Available Shifts

#twitterforgoodVolunteers will assist #ICANHELP’s marketing team with campaigns for Digital4Good, our annual summit. Digital4Good celebrates ten outstanding students who are using digital media and technology to advance social, economic, environmental, and educational causes. We’re looking for volunteers to create press releases to spread awareness of the event and the incredible work that these student innovators have done to make a positive impact in their communities. We’re shining a spotlight on student innovation and leadership to show the world just what kids and teens can do with the right tools, education, and encouragement.
Volunteers will also help our Trust and Safety Team develop content for our Social Media Emergency Plan as part of our Digital First Responder Training program, which teaches educators and student leaders how to train and inspire others to take action when they see something harmful online.

Broadmead Care's Shred-a-Thon event itself is very simple! We will have a large shredding truck stationed at the lower end of the Veterans Memorial Lodge parking lot, ready to shred up to 300 boxes of paper! Starting at 9:00 AM our community members will be lining up in their vehicles eager to drop off their paper documents for shredding. The day goes by quickly, and is fairly steady throughout. Our roles as volunteers at the event will be to keep things moving swiftly and safely. I am hoping to have two shifts available starting at 8:45 – 11:00 AM & 10:45 AM – 1:15 PM. You are of course welcome to come for the entire event or anywhere in between based on your availability.
We will have a few different roles available for you:
1. Greeters/ Directional Help – These folks will be stationed at the entrance of our event and will help waive down our community members who may be looking for the right entrance.
2. Box Runners – These folks will be collecting boxes from vehicles and bringing them to our shredding drop zone area and helping dump into the shredding bin.
3. Box Sorters – These folks will help manage the boxes that get left behind. We will need help breaking down boxes and getting them into the recycling bins after the paper has been emptied.
This event is an important fundraiser for adults with disabilities living at Nigel House.
