Are you looking for a simple way to help someone in our community? Are you a safe driver?

Becoming a Volunteer driver is an opportunity that can really make a difference in the quality of someone's life! Our Team of Volunteers help seniors and those with disabilities stay mobile with ride assistance.

Transportation is an essential need among older adults in our community, and it is the most requested senior independence service. Many seniors are no longer driving but still have doctor appointments to get to and errands to run. You can assist these individuals by volunteering!

As a volunteer driver, you assign yourself to requested trips that fit well with your schedule and transport the consumer in your own vehicle. Most transportation requests are for medical appointments, but we also accept transports to grocery stores, community centers, banks, hair salons, shopping centers, and social events.

If you would like more information about volunteering with Family Service Rochester, please reach out to a member of our Volunteer Engagement Team at 507-287-2010 or volunteers@familyservicerochester.org or sign up to volunteer via our Volunteer Portal.

Thank you!

**Registration and background check must be completed prior to volunteering. Must also have a valid drivers license, vehicle insurance, and be 18 or older.

**multiple locations in south-east Minnesota

We need some of our great volunteers to help support this fun program! Volunteers will be partnered up with camp participants to support them as needed.  The camps will take place in our newly expanded multi-purpose space at our office in Wauwatosa - easy to get to!  These camps were so successful last year that we have increased from two camps to nine!

The Saturday morning camps and their themes are as follows -
1/20 - The Magical Rain Forest
2/17 - We Can Make The World A Better Place
4/20 - Folk Tales
6/15 - Summer Fun
7/20 - Circus
8/17 - Let's All Go To The Zoo
9/21 - I Love My Family
10/19 - Superstars are Super Heroes
11/16 - The Disney Experience
12/21 - Sharing Our Gifts

What will the camp look like?
Come join us for a mini camp designed to teach participants the basics of connecting with others through theater activities with the integration of arts, music, movement, and hands on learning experiences. Each session will be thematic in nature and will provide participants with exposure to new learning, and time to practice and showcase their newly learned skills. These mini camps will help to build skills that participants can use during our regular SuperStars Creative Arts Camp experience too!

Goals of the Camp:
Increase awareness in one’s own creative art ability and self-expression
Interacting socially with others
Increase an individual’s physical and emotional control
Increase self-esteem
Have fun and make friends

Volunteer Role -
Volunteers will be working directly with the participants serving as a "coach" to help them be as fully involved in the camp as possible.  A coaching session for volunteers will start at 9:00 a.m. just prior to the camp session to best prepare the volunteer to support the participants.  Since volunteers will be working directly with our kids, this is a two-part registration process.  Please make sure that we have correct contact information so that we can complete registration and pass along important details.

*PLEASE NOTE*
Our primary way of getting in contact with you is via email.  Please enable your email to accept email from sue@assew.org and check frequently in your junk or spam mailbox until you authorize those emails.  If we can't get in contact with you then we can't schedule you as a volunteer.  If you have any questions please reach out to Sue by email (sue@assew.org) or text/voice (414 322 1670).
