AXS Lab is seeking volunteers to rate venues on our accessibility tool AXS Map, which relies on crowd-sourced ratings in order to provide information to people with disabilities. AXS Map, created in 2011 by award-winning filmmaker, activist, and person with a disability, Jason DaSilva has remained the largest online accessibility database in North America since its public launch in 2012. It is a service that allows thousands of users a month to map and research the accessibility of establishments and public places they frequent. The ultimate goal is to advocate for accessibility, ensure the inclusion and wellbeing of people with disabilities, highlight accessible locations, encourage communities to become advocates for people with disabilities, and educate business owners about accessibility standards. We envision a world that is 100% accessible to those often left standing on the sidelines, and AXS Map is the tool that helps us work toward this goal. Because we use Google’s API, any place that can be looked up on Google Places can be looked up on AXS Map, such as coffee shops, museums, and schools. We want to get ratings of all of these places so that people with disabilities can have accessibility information at their fingertips. Mapping can be done virtually, or by going to venues in person. If doing it virtually, it is a process of getting venues to answer a series of questions about accessibility over the phone or email. Then you input the answers into AXS Map. If you are in person, then you can scan a venue and input the information on site or at home. If you do not yet have an account, you will need to sign up which is super easy.

Mapping is easy!
Step One: Go to www.axsmap.com
Step Two: Sign in or make a new account
Step Three: Search for venues and hit the review button
Step Four: Start inputting reviews about each venue you visit's accessibility.
And then you are all set. We look forward to seeing you to start mapping
