VersAbility Resources, Inc., is a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been a part of our community since 1953. Our mission is to support people with disabilities in leading productive and fulfilling lives.

Through our various programs, we serve people with disabilities throughout their lives. This includes infants that need support to reach developmental milestones, school students that gain job skills to work in our community, senior citizens that are engaged in community activities and residents that live in our community-based homes.

Some of the individuals we serve have limited resources. As a result, we have an Angel Tree committee that gathers donated items and distributes them to those individuals during the holiday season. Last year, we identified over 50 people that received needed items; such as, coats, sheets, pillows, clothing, shoes and developmental toys. Some of the infants we serve have siblings that also have needs. We made sure those children are included in our distribution of gifts.

We need volunteers to assist our Angel Tree committee with the organization and distribution of the donated items. This would include helping sort and gift-wrap the items. This activity will be located in one of our conference rooms at our corporate offices in Hampton, Virginia.

Whether large or small, non-profit organizations need to follow appropriate accounting and control standards when managing their finances.

We are looking for volunteers with accounting and finance expertise that we can consult with to make sure that as a small organization, we are following such standards and have the appropriate controls in place. We are hoping for consulting time in 1 hour blocks where we can go over our current accounting system and controls and get recommendations for improvements.

All our officers and board members serve without compensation and the expertise we get in finance and otherwise are based on volunteered skills.
