On Sunday, March 18, 2018 The Vermont Chargers, a Power Soccer Team Belonging to the Northeast Disabled Athletic Association, will be hosting their 7th Annual Zach Stamatis Memorial Cup. Power soccer is the first competitive team sport designed and developed specifically for power wheelchair users. These participants include persons with quadriplegia, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, head trauma, stroke, spinal cord injury and other disabilities. Our mission is to provide power wheelchair users with the opportunity to play for a team and compete in a way that they would not otherwise be able to. After a person has a disability and they leave the hospital, there is very little support offered for their reintegration into life, both socially and recreationally. Our goal is to show them that there is support out there and that even though they have a disability, they can still participate in a competitive team environment and live socially active lives just like everyone else. We encourage participation from people with disabilities throughout the state of Vermont and compete with other power soccer teams regionally and nationally. The significance of this is that the leadership, confidence, teamwork and sportsmanship that this sport provides to these athletes is extremely unique in their lives. The Zach Stamatis Memorial Cup will feature teams from all over New England and Montréal coming to play competitively, show their skills and having a good time. It is a celebration of what people with disabilities can do and helps other people see what we are capable of. We are looking for volunteers to help us with a variety of tasks at this event including helping with setup, helping serve as line judges and scorekeepers at the games, serving food to participants and overseeing our silent auction table.Available Shifts

MDA Lock-Up is a fun and inspiring community event that unites business leaders to raise funds and awareness to help kids and adults break free from the harm of muscle-debilitating diseases. Business leaders join forces with MDA by agreeing to be “locked up” while they raise money for their “bail,” which helps bring more everyday freedoms to kids and adults with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases that take away physical strength and mobility. Jailbirds (participating business leaders) network with other elite executives and show their community their dedication to the cause.
Guilty of wanting to make an impact while having fun? The MDA Lock-Up event is for you! This a fun and inspiring community event that unites business leaders to join forces with MDA by agreeing to be “locked up” while they raise money for their “bail,” which funds MDA’s mission.
