Through our Pediatric Massage Volunteer Program, Buds to Blossoms brings international teams of volunteers to Ho Chi Minh City (aka Saigon), Vietnam each year.We are currently looking for volunteers to provide gentle massage to AIDS orphans, other children affected by HIV/AIDS, orphans with disabilities and other disadvantaged children.
During this volunteer program you will:
* live in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for 1-3 weeks
* receive basic instruction in massage for children
* learn to provide massage in ways that not only deliver important health benefits but also communicate to children they are safe, loved, and respected
* get a tremendous amount of hands-on experience providing massage to children with HIV/AIDS and disabilities
* experience the joy of offering nurturing, therapeutic touch to children who have a great need for the care you can provide
Most of our work is not highly technical. Instead, it flows naturally from our capacity to reach out to others with warmth. While experience with children and massage may be helpful, it is not required for participation in this program.
Some of the children live in orphanages where there are relatively few adult caregivers and volunteer help is crucial to meeting their needs.
Massage is of particular value to the children we work with because its immune system-strengthening effect may improve their compromised health. The massages we provide to orphans with disabilities improve their mobility and lessen the discomfort of perpetually-contracted muscles. Massage also promotes the children's well-being by bringing relief from pain and anxiety and helping meet their emotional and developmental needs for one-on-one nurturing attention and touch.

Looking to make a real difference in your own community? WVCS* Food Pantry volunteers help distribute food to those in need through our no-cost grocery store.Food pantry volunteers help set up the pantry by organizing and stocking donated food and goods. Volunteers also assist clients through the pantry, helping them shop for groceries. Shifts last around 3-4 hours, but the time really does fly by! This is a great opportunity for volunteers that like to get moving and serve clients in a direct way.
Available Shifts include:
8:00 AM to 12:00 PM Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays
1:00 PM to 5:00 PM Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays
5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesdays or Thursdays

Over the years, WVCS has developed relationships with local grocery stores to provide clients with fresh produce and bread, things that many typical food pantries cannot provide. In order to provide these goods to clients, we need people to help us pick up these donated items and bring them into the food pantry.We are looking for volunteers to pick up donations from local grocery stories (using our company van or personal vehicle) and then deliver the goods to WVCS. This is a great opportunity for volunteers that like to get moving early in the morning or the afternoon, but might have limited time to volunteer.

No experience needed and we need volunteers every day of the week!GallopNYC encourages volunteers to learn more about what we do, to grow in their roles, and to take on leadership positions. We offer talks to volunteers about horsemanship and aspects of disabilities, and offer occasional horsemanship classes.
