Alliance for Positive Change distributes over 300 gifts during December to children, families, and clients we serve. Our participants are low-income New Yorkers with HIV and other chronic conditions, many of whom come to us over the holidays to find connections to health services and community.We are requesting companies and volunteers to help us collect: adult winter coats (men & women); toys, games, and winter clothes (toddler to teenager); gift cards to purchase clothes and food; hygiene and beauty products; socks and undergarments; scarves and gloves (adult sizes); backpacks; and general items to include in gift bags.
All items must be new and unopened/unused.

Do you have retail clothing experience? Do you enjoy customer service environments? Do you like to interact with people of all demographics? or better yet, do you like seeing others clothed and fed in their most vulnerable times?If this sounds like something you would enjoy, we would love to have you volunteer in our free-to-all Clothing Bank. Clothing, shoes, personal hygiene items, and diapers are all distributed to guests through the clothing bank. This is one of the many free services we offer at Spokane Valley Partners. Weekly availability would be wonderful, but we welcome all the hands we can get! We have various shifts Tuesday- Friday 10 am-3 pm. Two, three, or five-hour shifts depending on your desired schedule. Mondays shifts the store is closed for restocking and diaper packaging.
Brief job description:
Sorting: Weigh, sort, hang, and restock donations in their proper location within the clothing bank.
Store: Greet and sign families in, weigh and sign out clothes for each family member. Simple computer /software skills are preferred.

Volunteer Mentors will provide mentoring sessions for adults with learning disability who would like to progress in to work. Clients on our Working Journeys programme will already be working with specialist Work Coaches and Learning Disability Support Workers daily to develop their skills, gain experience and confidence. As a Volunteer Mentor you can bring insights and skills from the workplace, helping a small ratio of Clients on programme to take the final steps in to work itself. Journey's Clients typically will look for part-time paid work in catering/hospitality, leisure and retail, and in manual occupations such as gardening and woodwork. Volunteers who have worked in these Sectors are particularly welcome, in addition to Volunteer Mentors who can support skills such as communication, team working, following instructions, time keeping, IT and following health & safety protocols. This high profile programme is funded by the Henry Smith Charity and by TNL Community Foundation for three years. 170 adults with complex learning disability will take part, developing work skills for volunteering roles supporting the community, and, for a smaller ratio, to enter paid part-time work or self-employment.Available Shifts

We will match you with one of our participants that you will meet with once a week for ten weeks (in person or via Zoom) to discuss various topics, including conflict resolution, self-advocacy, and social justice.The Arc San Francisco is a place that partners with individuals with developmental disabilities. Our mission is to provide dynamic and integrated services where children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities discover and define their own quality of life and are thriving to their fullest potential, joined by their families, circles of support and our person-centered organization.On Sunday, September 10, 2023, AHRC Suffolk's Pave the Way for Play 5K will take place at Heckscher State Park in East Islip, NY. Proceeds from our 5K run/walk will benefit a new fully accessible playground at the AHRC Suffolk Seiff Educare Center, which provides services for children up to age 21. This new recreation area will provide students additional education, therapy, and play space.
Attendees will enjoy a day of fun activities including a Kids Fun Run, refreshments, raffles and more. This year, our goal is to grow our 5K and make it our most successful run/walk yet! We hope you will join us in being a part of this wonderful event.
