Individual with intellectual and developmental disabilities are under a very difference stay at home situation due to covid 19. Because so many have additional medical issues they haven't been able to resume any activities and quite frankly they are BORED and think people have forgotten them. We will provide the cards and will mail them for you, we just need your kind note, maybe a photo of your pet, a word search game or a funny photo and we will mail your kind words to them. It lets our folks know that people care and helps them stay in engaged. And I will tell you, they love mail.Available Shifts

The Arc is a non-profit organization serving children and adults with disabilities and cover 8 counties in Iowa. Our organization have been hit hard by the pandemic and fundraising is detrimental in being able to continue our programs and services. We have had to change our fall fundraiser and will be holding a socially distanced golf tournament and would like to also have a small silent auction. The tournament will be held on September 20th at the Elks Lodge. We are looking for volunteers to help with this event.Available Shifts

• Fitness challenge – You can run or walk 5 miles or for 5 minutes. You could do the same in your home or garden, go up and down the stairs 5 times, juggle for 5 minutes, do a 5-minute exercise.
• Artwork challenge
Painting a motivational art with your family
Drawing and narrating a motivational quote (message) for our wheelchair users and their families
Designing a greeting card to our users
• Live Wheelchair Based Art
Within a stipulated time, volunteers will draw anything with wheelchair as one component in the picture, volunteers can add a message to motivate the wheelchair user. You can involve your children and family members to be part of the activity. For this activity, volunteers are requested to be prepared with resources in advance. (chart paper, pencils, eraser, sharpener, color pens or any materials)
This volunteering is a fun and easy way to explore your interests and passions. These activities help build empathy and connect with disabled people. They are relaxing, energizing escape from your day-to-day routine of work and can be enjoyed with your families. They also provide you with renewed creativity, motivation, and vision that can carry over into your personal and professional life.
The art work, photos of activity etc will be displayed on Motivation India website and social media with prior permissions

Employ to Empower (ETE) supports residents in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES) community by providing access to development and entrepreneurial resources. Our resources include affordable micro-loans and business mentorship, with the goal of having a long-term impact on our members’ personal and economic well-being. We also actively advocate for creating positive social change in the DTES.
We’re keen to build a group of compassionate and talented mentors to support our entrepreneurs in our program who specialize in web development, social media growth, finance, go-to market, digital marketing, graphic design, accounting, and legal advice. We want to bring a community of supporters to residents in the DTES.
Position Description
Title Description: Specialist Mentor
Reporting To: Christina Wong, Executive Director
Location: Virtual

Commitment: 3-4 hours per month.

Position Summary
Your primary roles include supporting entrepreneurs including but not limited to: Digital marketing, finances, marketing, websites, and graphic design. Specialist mentors will open office hours for 3-4 hours per month for emerging entrepreneurs in the Downtown Eastside community.
Key Accountabilities
[Digital Marketing]: Support entrepreneurs to get their Instagram and Facebook profiles / business pages set up / help with copywriting
[Finances]: Support entrepreneurs with finding their costs, and strategy for their micro-business
[Marketing]: Provide hands on support and advice on where the entrepreneur can further market their product
[Web Developer]: Create and maintain a website/e-commerce platform for entrepreneurs throughout the year
[Graphic Designers]: Create graphics for the entrepreneurs to use for their social media platforms
[Accounting]: Share knowledge and steps to registering for sole proprietorships, partnerships, and incorporations
[Insurance]: Share insights/expertise on certain types of business insurance that one needs to get access to
[Legal]: Provide insights and advice on patents and legal documents for sole proprietorship and partnerships
Qualifications
-Compassionate and cares deeply for the DTES community
-Strong interpersonal skills and high relational empathy
-2+ years of experience volunteering/working in the DTES
-Clear, concise, and detail-oriented in terms of email, phone, and text communication
-Diligent problem solver, who is looking to learn and help when possible
-Keen desire to be a part of something great that positively impacts society especially in times of crisis
-Proactive to collaborate remotely

-Experience advising high-growth, ambitious start-ups and initiatives
-Entrepreneurship experience
-Hands-on experience advising in a specialty area (fundraising, two-sided platforms, social project)
Education
Must be enrolled in post-secondary education and have completed, or be in the process of completing, a degree related to Business, Finance, Accounting, Law, Marketing and/or Interactive Arts/Technology
