Volunteers can rank the favorable two topics they feel the most comfortable discussing. Here are the topics that you can CHOOSE to talk about.
-Developing a Professional & Online Brand
-Developing Soft Skills
-Overcoming Imposter Syndrome
-Financial Literacy & Planning
-Access & Utilizing Career Resources for Career Growth

Each breakout room conversation will follow this outline:
-Introductions (5 minutes)
-Exploring the Topic (15-20 minutes)
-Scholar Q&A (5-10 mins)

Each volunteer will have the opportunity to rank their top two preferred breakout rooms. All rooms will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. Volunteers will be notified of their assignment no later than 10 days prior to the event. You may explore the breakout room topics and all other event details using our facilitator prep guide.

Are you ready to change a life from the comfort of home?

Join ENGin as a conversation partner! This is a flexible and unique opportunity to make a direct impact on someone’s life while discovering a new culture and meeting a new friend.

We’ll pair you up with a buddy in Ukraine for weekly videochats at times that are convenient for you. During your conversations, you’ll practice English with your partner, learn about each other’s cultures, and offer an empathetic, authentic space for connection.

No teaching experience or knowledge of Ukrainian is required to volunteer with us. All of our participants can understand and hold a basic conversation in English. We offer ample training resources, session materials and total flexibility to customize your sessions to fit your/your partner’s goals and preferences. You’ll also have access to online communities to share ideas and ask questions.

Our only requirements for volunteers are English fluency, a strong internet connection, and the ability to commit to one hour a week for a minimum of 10-12 weeks.

Here's what three ENGin volunteers say about their experience.
- "I'm so glad that I got this experience and was able to make a new friend. By putting in a small amount of time, I'm able to make a huge impact on my student."
- "This program has been, I think, life-changing for both of us. I really consider her more like my daughter right now. That's how close we have become!"
- "I made a friend in Ukraine and we are teaching each other about our culture, our language, and our humor. We're even trading dad jokes! Both of us look forward to our chats and have a hard time wrapping it up."

To learn more about ENGin and become a volunteer, please visit www.enginprogram.org/volunteer or register to attend one of our weekly Zoom info sessions here. Info sessions are an opportunity to meet one of our team members, learn more about ENGin, and ask questions.

If you have any questions before signing up, please contact our team at info@enginprogram.org.

STEM Workshop Facilitator for Underserved Youth

Goal/Purpose of the Activity:
The goal of the "STEM Workshop Facilitator" volunteer opportunity is to empower underserved youth in the Greater Cincinnati area by providing them with hands-on, interactive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. This initiative aims to bridge the educational gap for students who lack access to quality STEM resources and inspire them to pursue further education and careers in STEM fields. By facilitating engaging workshops, volunteers will play a crucial role in fostering a passion for learning, developing critical thinking skills, and preparing students for future success.

Importance of the Activity:
This activity is vital because it addresses the educational disparities faced by underserved communities, ensuring that all students, regardless of their background, have the opportunity to succeed in STEM subjects. By engaging with students through hands-on activities and real-world problem-solving, volunteers help demystify STEM concepts and make learning enjoyable and accessible. This exposure not only enhances students' academic performance but also opens doors to potential career opportunities in high-demand STEM fields, contributing to long-term economic stability and growth for individuals and their communities.

Training Provided:
We are committed to equipping our volunteers with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively facilitate STEM workshops. Our training program follows a social learning model that combines digital, interactive, and facilitated onsite training sessions. Volunteers will receive comprehensive training materials that include:

Digital Training Modules: Accessible online, these modules cover the basics of STEM education, workshop facilitation techniques, and best practices for engaging with youth.
Interactive Learning: Volunteers will participate in interactive training sessions where they can practice hands-on activities, ask questions, and receive feedback from experienced trainers.
Facilitated Onsite Training: In-person training sessions will provide volunteers with real-world scenarios, role-playing exercises, and collaborative learning opportunities to ensure they are well-prepared to lead workshops.

By providing robust training, we ensure that our volunteers are confident, well-prepared, and capable of delivering high-quality STEM education to our students. This comprehensive approach to volunteer training fosters a supportive and effective learning environment, ultimately benefiting the students we aim to serve.
