Are you looking to evolve your purpose in life? Consider joining a board for a non-profit that is driven by a singular mission with a huge impact:

The Gift of Adoption Fund seeks to fill the void that separates child from family through adoption completion grants, giving vulnerable children a permanent home and the chance to thrive.

Gift of Adoption is a national 501(c)(3) that provides the final funds that prospective adoptive parents need to complete the adoptions of vulnerable children from within the U.S. and from around the world.

Networking and fundraising are the primary responsibilities of board members.
To fundraise, we organize fun social events, online campaigns and more. The board currently consists of professionals who volunteer their time and connections to further the cause. You can live anywhere in the state but are expected to participate in monthly calls and, ideally, quarterly in-person meetings. 100% of the money we raise goes directly to completing families' adoptions in your state.

We are a team of smart, dedicated (and, we like to think, fun!) people who believe that a loving family is a basic human right.

We are looking for Board Members who:
- Are passionate about volunteering to help children.
- Have creative fundraising ideas and the motivation and social network to make them happen!
- Are connected to and/or interested in outreach to the local business community.
- Enjoy connecting people and finding partnership opportunities.
- Are comfortable reaching out to their network of family and friends about a good cause.
- Have strong communication skills, and are highly organized.
- Want a volunteer opportunity that makes a permanent difference!

We expect that you will:
- Help plan and attend fundraising events.
- Work with the other board members to collectively raise money to fund adoptions.
- Participate in one board call a month.
- Attend a quarterly in-person meeting.

In our Nebraska/Iowa region, we ask board members to make a personal gift and hit a fundraising goal each year that they serve.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to talk!

Reach out to us today with the following information:
1. Why are you interested in the Gift of Adoption?
2. Where in the state are you located?
3. What unique quality could you bring to our organization?

And please note that this is a volunteer, un-paid position. Our Board Members typically serve 3-year terms. Click the links below for more information!

Looking to combat hunger in Harford County? The EPICENTER at Edgewood is seeking volunteers for our April Health Fair and Food Giveaway.

Each month, The EPICENTER hosts a Health Fair and Food Giveaway, through which we partner with Maryland Food Bank and Tabitha's House to give away more than 7,000 pounds of food to Harford County citizens in need. We will also have various community organizations come and share information and resources, including free employment readiness counseling, free chiropractic care, free health and dental screenings, free financial education, information on low-cost and free healthcare options, and more for all community members.

Volunteers may help with any of the following tasks: setting up for the Fair, sorting food, bagging food, giving food bags to guests, or cleaning up after the event. In addition, if you speak Spanish, we could always use help translating for Spanish-speaking guests (though Spanish skills are not required).

Our April Health Fair will take place on Friday, April 13th from 2-5 p.m. Volunteers may help during either of both of the following shifts:
1. General (includes food sorting, bagging, and distribution)- 1-4 p.m.
2. Clean-up (includes food distribution and post-event clean-up)- 2:30-5:30 p.m.

If you have time on the 13th and a heart for those in need, we would be delighted to have you serve with us! Also, if you or someone you know are in need of food or other services, you are welcome to receive food or visit with the resources that will be there as well.

Please contact Lauren Savard at laurens@epicenteratedgewood.com with any questions. The EPICENTER is located on Route 40 in the shopping center behind the Walgreen's.

Ride for Reading volunteers gather once a month to deliver books via
bicycle to the students of various Title I schools. A Ride for Reading
representative talks to the children about the importance of literacy,
helmet wearing, and a healthy life as well as an introduction to the
different types of bicycles (commuter, cyclocross, mountain, road, fixie,
etc.)

The representative has the students take the RfR Pledge:
I promise to read my book twice.
I will never ever…
Ever, ever, ever…
Ever, ever
Throw my book away.
I will pass it on to a friend…
Family member…
Neighbor…
Classmate…
Or someone else I know.
And I promise…
To be the best student for the rest of the year
Then volunteers then place all of the donated books in a central location
similar to a book fair. Each child in the school gets to choose 1-3 books
that they take home with them. and promises to pass along the book to a
friend.
