Our Mother's Closet program meets the community where they are by utilizing local parks and playgrounds throughout the Kansas City metro. Mother's Closet pop-ups are scheduled once per month at area parks and provide free clothing, child care items, diapers, and education to the general public. Volunteers will be asked to help unload tubs from the moving truck to set up the event, sort donations during the event, and to reload the truck at the end of the event.

From our first pop-up in May 2020 to now, we have seen significant growth and excitement as we become known in area groups and meet needs we could never have anticipated. Additionally, we have partnered with Giving Hope and Help and No Shame to help provide period products and other essentials to families in our community. These partnerships have allowed us to expand our giving and ensure that the families coming to Mother's Closet events leave with all the supplies we can provide. In the future, we plan to expand the events to include mobile food banks, diaper banks, and, eventually, a permanent location.

It has been more than 20 years since 9/11. To commemorate this occasion, we will honor the victims and heroes of that day through acts of service to support a new generation of civic-minded Americans. We invite you to join us in unity for the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance.

On Saturday, September 10, 2022, beginning at 0900 hours, The Mission Continues’ Killeen Service Platoon and its local community partners will host a service project honoring 9/11 through service. We will improve and overhaul an aquaponics system at Heroes Rancheros, a veteran advocacy organization based in Florence, Texas. By partnering and working with Heroes Rancheroes to rebuild their aquaponics system, we will be an integral part of their aquaponics and horticulture initiative.

The program’s goal is to promote healthy food for those in need, particularly the veterans in the Florence area. With access to the right resources, people can become empowered by their abilities and gain the confidence to fulfill their most basic necessities. Aside from the aquaponics and horticulture initiative, Heroes Rancheros also provide mental health education, veteran advocacy, tiny homes & housing, livestock therapy, and special skills training.

The Killeen Service Platoon is humbled and proud to partner with Heroes Rancheros and other community organizations in commemorating the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance through meaningful and impactful community service. Charlie Mike!
