Below is a overview of at typical build day with our Construction Team:
7:45AM – On site arrival time
8:00AM - Prompt start with a mandatory safety speech. You will be trained on the assigned task for the day. Work begins!
10:00AM – Morning Break - please bring any snacks you would like to enjoy & water to keep you hydrated through the day.
10:15AM – Works resumes
12:00PM – Lunch break - Habitat will provide a catered lunch during this event!
12:45PM – Work resumes
2:30PM – Cleanup is called and we begin to break down our jobsite
3:00PM – Wrap up and thank you!
Important Information:
Face Masks – All volunteers will be required to bring and wear (if requested) their own face masks. No exceptions, entry will be denied without a face mask. Masks may be surgical, N95, cloth, gaiter, or other face coverings. Material must fully cover the mouth and nose, remain secured to the head, and cannot have long fabric or strings that could get caught on something, i.e. scarves.
Health – Any volunteer who indicates or appears to be sick will be asked to leave immediately. We are requesting any volunteer who is sick to stay home, no matter how mild their symptoms may be. Any volunteer that is immunocompromised or has concerns with potential exposure should not volunteer with Habitat at this time.
Food & Beverage – Volunteers must bring their own water and snacks. We will have our standard morning and lunch breaks, but Habitat will NOT provide any beverages or snacks. Please bring enough water to stay well hydrated throughout the day.
Habitat will provide a catered lunch for your team on this date from David Alan Hospitality Group!
Attire - Construction Comfortable - Please wear appropriate clothing, and dress in layers for the weather. Keep in mind that clothing may get extremely dirty through the build day, and construction materials may leave permanent reminders of your service. DO NOT WEAR YOUR FAVORITE OUTFIT!
Footwear - ONLY CLOSED TOE SHOES WILL BE PERMITTED ON SITE. Flip flops, high heels, and Crocs will NOT be allowed. Construction sites may be muddy/ruddy and at times difficult to navigate. Please use your best judgement based on the weather and season.
• If we have to cancel due to weather/emergency Habitat will make the cancellation the day before, or by 6:30 a.m. the day of and notify via email.

We train all volunteers prior to your scheduled volunteer date!
As a volunteer you will be teaching 5 activity-based lessons in one day to the same class.
All lessons and activities are provided with step by step instructions.
Junior Achievement’s programs bring volunteers from the community to inspire young people to dream big and reach their potential. Classroom volunteers will teach 5 activity based 30-45 minute lessons on how to be smart with their money and how to think like entrepreneurs and how to get ready for the workforce.
Junior Achievement will teach you how to prepare for your lessons along with class management to ensure a positive classroom experience.
Five Lesson Program taught all in one day
30 minute a lesson for Kindergarten & 1 st grade
45 minute a lesson for 2nd grade through 5th grade
Program Themes:
Kindergarten "Ourselves" introduces making choices on saving, sharing and giving.
1st grade "Our Families" discusses the role of families in the local economy. Along with needs and wants.
2nd grade "Our Community" examines responsibilities and economic opportunities available in a community. Learning about taxes and voting.
3rd grade "Our City" considers economic development, local businesses, and career opportunities. Learn about city zoning and starting a business plan to open a restaurant.
4th grade "Our Region" features how entrepreneurs use resources in their region to sell their services or goods to their customers.
5th grade "Our Nation" learn about Human, Natural and Capital resources, resumes and mock interviews. Along with U.S. business operations and economic issues.
