We offer life skills development, skillfully matched female mentors (THAT'S YOU!), monthly exposure to career options, as well as intellectual and cultural experiences at no cost to underprivileged youth in Houston! Youth graduate TWST’s Core Program as well-rounded young women who are purposeful, self-sufficient, and equipped with the tools needed to excel in life.

WHO WE NEED:

TWST4GIRLS is interviewing potential mentors for youth girls ages 11-17. You will be working with youth from diverse backgrounds, underserved communities, working-class families, incarcerated or recently paroled youth. We are looking for diverse female professionals who possess all or most of these qualities:

Imagine you're a 27-year-old single parent earning $25,000 a year as an office assistant, or perhaps you're a 35-year-old regional manager making $65,000 annually. How will you manage your money? At JA Finance Park, students act like adults for a day and make personal financial decisions in a realistic "city" simulation. Regardless of the role, students are assigned to play, they develop enduring financial skills by participating in classroom-based and simulated experiences.

Before you present JA Finance Park, Junior Achievement staff will provide comprehensive training and share the goals of the simulation experience. You will become familiar with the daily schedule, the work expected of the students, and your role and responsibilities as a volunteer. You also will be instructed on how to use the Volunteer Guide and Volunteer Checklist to help facilitate the program. Volunteers are key to the success of JA Finance Park. From the beginning of the volunteer training until the end of the simulation, JA staff will be available to answer all your questions.

The time commitment at JA Finance Park is minimal compared to the significant impact you will make on the lives of young people. The volunteer day, composed of full training and the simulation experience, will pass quickly and leave you astonished by how much the students accomplish in such a short period of time.

Opportunity Details

The volunteers will be stuffing backpacks with school supplies for Powder Springs Community Taskforce 18th Annual Back2School Bash.

The Powder Springs Community Taskforce 18th Annual Back2School Bash will provide 600 backpacks stuffed with required school supplies to underprivileged youth (who attend Title 1 Schools in Powder Springs) and their families ranging from elementary to high school and some college students. Community resource information (resource expo and educational workshops) is provided to area youth and their families participating in the event. We will continue to strengthen families through community resources and development. We are dedicated to providing our youth in need of school supplies with the tools necessary to be successful in the classroom.

Opportunity Details

Join us in Zambia for an 11 day experience serving orphaned and vulnerable children. Our trips are 1 - humanitarian service, 2 - personal growth, 3 - cultural exchange, 4 - safe for the whole family.

The first Teen Success Academy Summit 2019 is happening this summer at Arizona State University! Not only will it be fun and interactive for teens, but it will focus on real-life skills from financial literacy and college readiness to resiliency and how to prepare themselves for opportunities that are ahead. In addition to being eligible for prizes, awards, and scholarships, all at this one-day event, they will also attend a Teen Success Resource Fair at the end where they will be provided with opportunities and resources such as jobs, internships, volunteer opportunities with a Disneyland trip incentive, teen programs they can get involved with, and more!

Opportunity Details

This event has become an annual event to beautify our campus and show pride in our school and community. We partner with Brightside and Mayor Fischer for give a day of service. On April 13 from 9-12, we pickup trash on campus, weed our landscaping, and replace any dead bushes. The PTA organizes volunteers to make this event fun and quick as possible! Our partner Brightside provides shirts, gloves, and trashbags. The PTA provides light refreshments for all our volunteers.

This wine tasting with food pairing event is held at Kennett Square Golf & Country Club. It is a fundraiser that supports the women Wings for Success serves in Southern Chester County and Wilmington. Money raised helps purchase the essentials needed for women to work but cannot afford. we are looking for volunteers to assist us during the event with assisting with the Wine Grab sales, assisting during the "Live Ask", as well as technological support for the Silent Auction.

Opportunity Details

This high-end Spring Fashion show, hosted by Van Cleve Pavilion, will help fund the clothing purchased for women-in-need. It will be an evening of wine, appetizers, music and professional runway models wearing the trendiest spring styles! We are in need of volunteers to assist us with serving wine, appetizers, and assisting in receiving donations. We would need volunteers to arrive 30 minutes before the start of the event, making the service time commitment be 3 hours total.

The Greater KC Community Baby Shower is a community event for new & expecting single parents and low-income families. Held each year on Mothers Day weekend. The baby shower includes fellowship, food, workshops, vendors, games, and FREE baby items to each family. Jazzie Cares Foundation would be non existent without talented volunteers, and it’s due to the generous time, talent and efforts of volunteers that we’re able to operate. Serving others can provide some of the richest and most rewarding experiences you’ll ever have.
