We are looking for Volunteers to join our team to increase access to life-affirming resources in the Bay Area, Los Angeles and Gainesville, FL. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about empowering low-income communities.

As part of the Resource Management team, you will be updating our existing database of 22k community resources in the Bay Area and Los Angeles counties. This work is crucial to our commitment to provide up-to-date information for families and individuals that need community resources. As a Community Resource Volunteer you will:
Conduct online research to verify and update existing resources on One Degree such as navigating nonprofit and government agencie’s websites.
Use One Degree’s Resource Editing Tool to make edits directly to existing resources in our database.
Compile data into a user-friendly excel spreadsheet.
Use Slack to communicate with the Volunteer team and stay informed on Volunteer program updates.
Attend a monthly virtual meeting to discuss volunteer work, hear One Degree updates, and any special announcements.
Time Commitment: 5-15 hours a week (or updating a minimum of 20 resources per week), for 3-6 months.
Qualifications: Basic knowledge of computer and data entry. Have access to a computer. Written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently. Good computer and typing skills. Strong proofreading skills.
Training: An introduction & orientation call will be set up with a member of our team. Detailed instructions, training videos, one-on-one virtual support (Slack, email, conference calls) and thoughtful feedback will be given along the way.

TCYouth Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia. We are a community-based board and volunteers dedicated to serving and saving the youth of the Commonwealth of Virginia, grades 5th thru 12th, by enriching their lives with self-confidence. TCYouth Inc. currently facilitates FREE workshops to the youth of the communities on financial fitness, healthier eating and better living, bullying, career planning and goal setting, budgeting, basic life skills (i.e., washing, sewing, cooking and ironing) and cyber-security and computer technology and communications.TCY, in the summer of 2019, launched the "Feed Our Youth Program" wherein our youth go out in the communities of the Commonwealth of Virginia providing free lunches, on the weekends of the summer months. The youth participate in feeding the homeless, and provide food baskets on the holidays throughout the counties of Prince William, Stafford, and Arlington in the Commonwealth of Virginia to help combat hunger.
The USDA has reported nearly 11.1% of US households are food insecure. Although a decline form the 14.9% in 2011, these number are sporadically changing. The Virginia Department of Education/Food and Nutrition Department reports that 24.84% youth receive FREE lunches; 34.54% in Prince William County; 26.24% in Stafford County and a staggering 33.20% in Spotsylvania County. Although we can’t eradicate hunger by ourselves, we aim to put a dent in these numbers.
During our back-to-school event, we not only provide free meals to the community youth, we also provide over 300 bookbags.
The volunteers requested for this event will assist TCYouth Inc. in their endeavor to continue our "Feed The Youth Program" and help feed over 1,000 during the summer weekends. We also wanting to expand our “Backpack Program” (providing bagged snacks every Friday to the schools) throughout the schools in these and FREE food baskets during the holiday seasons to public schools as well as the community youth.

We are seeking local professionals to interact with over 1000 Oregon students in structured role plays. All preparation takes place on site and it truly is a wonderful experience for both students and volunteers.The conference meets in Portland, Sunday February 23 (noon-5pm), Monday February 24 (8am-4pm) and Tuesday February 25 (8am-4pm) at the Holiday Inn Columbia River - Portland. Judges may participate one or all days. There is free on-site parking and lunch will be provided Monday and Tuesday.
