About G.R.O.WGrowing Real Opportunities in the Workforce (G.R.O.W.) trains educators to empower their students to align who they are with what they want to do. GROW's curriculum does this by taking students through a fluid process of self-awareness, exploration of careers and the tools for students to be able to achieve their goals. Research has shown that programs that focus on career education and strengths-based self-assessment can help prevent dropouts and increase students’ academic performance. We reach youth at a critical time in their development, embed confidence in their ability to contribute to society, and introduce careers in emerging sectors that most youth are unaware of.
G.R.O.W.’s programs were developed to empower underserved and at-risk youth to take ownership of their education, careers, and futures. We help student identify their internal compass before starting the career preparation process. By doing so students have a clear understanding of WHERE they are headed and WHY.
Caseworkers have told us that our class has transformed students in all aspects of their lives and has deeply impacted their social-emotional development. One student commented that the class "saved her life." Another student said after taking our class he understood for the first time the importance of school and is now engaged in the classroom.
Get involved and help us touch more lives!

human-I-T connects low-income individuals and nonprofits to technology, the internet, and digital training. By reusing instead of recycling electronics, our team transforms e-waste into opportunities. In order to this, human-I-T relies upon volunteers to close the gap between gathering these devices and handing them into the hands of low-income families. In this way, volunteers --whether they are employees, students, or just interested in learning about technology-- are at the core of human-I-T's mission and help up push devices forward.
Volunteers get a tour of our warehouse to see how technology comes in and out. They all perform the following duties:
• Inspect IT inventory assets and will be responsible to wipe data off the hardware
• Help with clean and refurbish computers & monitors
• Dispose of damaged or defective items and e-waste
• Clean, display cases, shelves and aisles and other parts of the facility in order to have a clean environment and maintain sanitary conditions
• Help in carrying and moving goods/palettes to the vehicles
The I-T team is the backbone of human-I-T and volunteers help us quickly move the computers from the warehouse and into a deserving family's home.

human-I-T connects low-income individuals and nonprofits to technology, the internet, and digital training. By reusing instead of recycling electronics, our team transforms e-waste into opportunities.Beyond community donation events, we also host free digital literacy training for adult learners looking to master the fundamentals of navigating a computer. This four-part course covers the basics - from operating the device to accessing the internet and maintaining privacy online.
Volunteers help at training as "tutors", who guide students through exercises (e.g. locating job boards, building resumes, managing finances online). No deep technical experience needed, but a background in computer fundamentals is appreciated.

Smart Home America (SHA) is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization. To create stronger communities through collaboration, education, and the promotion of resilient and sustainable policies, products, and building methods. The Technical Advisory Committee has been in place since our founding in 2009 and is integral to our operations and success.
Our Mission Framework requires access to subject matter experts who provide unfiltered input, advice, and support for projects, initiatives, and ideas. Staff then use this feedback to manage, implement, or validate projects and initiatives. Mainly, the TAC helps us ground-truth our thoughts as an organization in the areas we serve.
Currently, we work in ten states and look to create TAC committees in each state, and possibly in strategic regions within states as needed.
TAC meetings are conducted on an as-needed basis throughout the year and typically no more than 3-4 times. This interval allows for regular engagement without over-burdening schedules.
Involvement in the TAC requires the ability to:
-Meeting or person or via video/teleconference 3-4 times per year
-As needed participation in one-one or small group/project meetings with stakeholders.
-Phone calls, emails, texts or messages to serve as a resource
-Occasional requests to attend or help arrange meetings or events
TAC members also receive an invitation to attend our Annual Meeting, which is held during the fourth quarter of the year.
In short, we ask TAC members to attend a handful of committee meetings a year, small group stakeholders meetings as needed, and to contribute where you can. We will call you because we trust you and require solid sources of information and no-nonsense feedback.
TAC membership is approved by staff and Board leadership of the Committee.
