Volunteers of AID are mainly involved in the following activities:

Projects
Volunteer chapters of AID provide financial support and expertise to NGOs based in India that are aligned with our mission and vision. Volunteers actively solicit project proposals from these NGOs, thoroughly evaluate the projects and finally help raise funds for these NGOs to implement them. Proposals that are approved by a majority vote are assigned to a team led by a Project Coordinator. It is the responsibility of the Project Coordinator and his team to ensure successful implementation of the project as well as evaluate and monitor the progress of the projects funded by AID. Volunteers return to India periodically to raise awareness about the work done by AID and to evaluate programs that we support.

Fund-raising events
Volunteers also actively take part in organizing several fund-raising events throughout the year. Events include inviting music bands and concerts to play for AID, hosting fund-raising dinners, hosting local sports tournaments and other similar activities.

In addition, for the effective functioning of the chapter, there are several roles which the volunteers take up. Chapter president, secretary, treasurer, overall project coordinator, webmaster and fund-raising coordinator are some of the roles.

How can you join AID, Portland?
Come and join us in the weekly Community Service Hour (CSH) to participate actively in AID activities. There are several roles one can take up in AID. For more information, check the contact us page. Big Serve is a community service day. Our organization will serve in 6-8 locations throughout Wylie, Sachse, Garland and Murphy. Our service projects vary in assignments based on what each center needs. For example, last year we painted a shelter, stacked food at a food pantry, cleaned and organized an after school food center and so on. We are not sure what the assignments will be yet at each center but we know we will be serving our community at many locations from 8 am till noon on November 3rd. We could use 2-4 people at each locations. So we could use about 20-25 people who would love to come serve with us!
