Seen&Heard is seeking a professional in finance for the executive board of our non-profit. Seen&Heard exists to promote the professional development in systems-impacted youth. Must be committed to attend quarterly meetings (virtually) as well as attend one program event and one fundraising event per year. Average time commitment is 4-6 hours a month. We are specifically seeking junior level employees, minorities and women. Our annual give/get is $500 annually to keep a "seat at the table" for everyone regardless of economic status.

Opportunity Details

We have over 160 children from 10th grade to 1st grade in basketball, another 80-100 8th graders and under in wrestling in need of assistant coaches. A few practices a week and games or matches over winter.

In addition, we are looking for adults willing to donate their time to help high school students learn skills that will benefit them in life, and help them learn the value of a dollar during their school year. We have activities like building raised floor beds, cornhole boards, large Jenga games, as well as organizing fundraisers like school dance for middle schoolers, selling merchandise and building out our new ecommerce website. Any and all activities that would be useful for them to learn, and show them the importance of learning a skill.

Currently we have 4 students who have each made $200 with their work and being positive role models for the younger kids. We are looking to expand to 20 kids but need more adults to help manage their activities and give feedback and supervision .

What/Who is NPower?
NPower is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering veterans, veteran spouses, and young adults from underserved communities with the tech skills, mentorship, and support needed to excel in the digital economy. Our Tech Fundamentals Program equips participants with a strong foundation in technology, preparing them for rewarding careers in the tech industry. NPower launched in San Antonio in 2023, thanks to the help of USAA.

Purpose of the Event
This event is to help our students sharpen their interview skills and help coach them through the interview process. Many of our trainees have never had a professional interview or may have only had military interviews while serving. We want to help prepare them to be successful when the land those interviews as they prepare to jump into the tech industry.

What type of Volunteers are we seeking?
We'd love to have anyone with a hiring, recruiting or human resource background. In addition, if you are an Employer looking to hire, we'd love to have you participate as well. We will provide you with 10 top general interview questions for you to ask, and you will have the opportunity to give direct feedback as well as written feedback.

A light breakfast, coffee, drinks and lunch will be provided.

The mentorship is to provide international perspective, behavior and mindset change for the apprentices from low income communities who are been supported by USAID to acquire vocational and entrepreneurial skills.
The trade areas are: garment, carpentry, masonry, hair dressing, metal fabrications, auto mechanics, glass glazing, interior decoration, catering, bakery, plumbing and electrical works.
