This back to school event gives us a sense of relevance and connects our community with the rest of the society. Gambian Talents Promotion is an all-volunteer organization. Your participation will enable us to put a smile on the faces of a lot of families as well as our grandmas. You will also have the opportunity to learn about the positive cultures from the Gambia, taste Gambian food, and interact with members of our community. We will also be able to learn from you and you will get a $50 Walmart gift cardWe’re looking for volunteers for the following roles:
-COVID-19 Rrevention: Help participants to maintain social distancing: You will be responsible for reminding people to maintain a safe distance, wear their masks properly, cover their faces, and even issue them a mask or gloves if they don’t have any. Your role is to make sure everyone is safe from the coronavirus.
-Directing Traffic: You will be responsible for directing traffic and telling families where to go and pick up their gifts.
-Collect donation for GTP- Some of the people coming to the program may wish to donate to GTP during the event. This volunteer will handle our square app and collect cash or check donation and log it into a spreadsheet.
-Donation collection & Distribution: We are encouraging members of the community to bring along items they would like to donate. Volunteers will collect and distribute items donated during the event to community members.
These are donations that anyone can take on the spot. The volunteer responsible will accept the donation from the donors, write down the donor’s name and contact information, and display items so participants can see they are available. You will also collect the contact information of the recipient.
-Check in: Volunteers will check-in people and confirm registered participants. Families and grandmas are registering beforehand for the event. This volunteer will carry this print out to check in families according to the form and direct them to the next person to serve them.
-Distribute Swag: We will be giving out medals and other swag to the students. This volunteer will be responsible for giving these gifts to the families
-Food Handling & Distribution: We have catered food as well as members of the community who are donating food for the grandmas and students. Volunteers will box up food into to-go boxes and assist in distributing food to both the grandma’s and the students.
-Errand Driver: This volunteer will drive around to run some last minute errands such as picking up the food from the restaurant and other donors. Buying last minute stuff we need for the event, picking up and dropping off the equipment, materials and other items we need at the event.
- Photographer/Videographer: We always like to keep track of and document our events and activities. This volunteer will take good pictures and/videos of the different activities for us to put on our website, our social media pages, and to share with our sponsors/donors.

GFWC Jr. Women's Club of Butler is a 501(c) 3, nonprofit organization. Our annual fundraiser was cancelled TWICE due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We still want to find a way to give back to our community nonprofit organizations, so we are holding the golf outing and hoping it is even more successful than it has been in the past! All proceeds will go towards Butler County community projects!!!Join us for our 3rd annual Charity Golf Scramble! Call to register your team of 4 players!!! Shotgun will start at 2 pm, so arrive early to register! Cost is $40 per golfer and will include a cart as well as light appetizers! Sign up sheet is at the clubhouse, or call 724-287-4832.
