Backing LatAm's Middle Class will select 8-10 entrepreneurs who increase economic mobility, help more people move into the middle class, and address systemic barriers that exist for entering the middle class (especially those that disproportionately affect women). We will work with startups that are creating continued growth in job opportunities, alternative access to the benefits that formal employment offers, additional opportunities to shore up financial health and even create wealth, access to financial resources, and consistent access to quality education.
We will be looking for mentors to participate in this session. Ideally, we are looking for employees within the organization that can offer insight into the process of establishing the target customer for a product or service and finding the right acquisition and communication channels with them.
In this session, volunteers will participate as mentors to the entrepreneurs participating in the program. They will meet with the companies to discuss client segmentation, their key assumptions, and market feedback plans.
The session will follow this format:
-Introductions and Break into Small Groups: Each group will be formed by two mentors and two companies.
-Small Group Work: Each company will have 35 minutes to go over their customer discovery plan and get feedback from mentors.
-Full Group Debrief
Before the Session:
-Volunteers will receive a calendar invitation and a Mentor Packet including information about the session and the companies one week before the session.
-The session will be held in spanish, but live translation to portuguese/english will be available if needed.

Opportunity DetailsYouth About Business teaches business to high school students through hosting a series of team-based business competitions. Over the course of a week, students will work in teams of 4-5 and assume the roles of the Executive Management of a public company to perform a M&A transaction.
Many students have very limited exposure to the business world, so students appreciate the team advisors for helping them understand these very complex cases. Each team advisor will cover a specific part of the transaction process to help demystify business and prepare students for their transactions.
The camp is both an educational opportunity and a competition for the students. Advisors act as both “paid” consultant and teachers during their experience. You should approach your role as advisor as if you are advising a client on the pros and cons of a deal.
Information Technology Session:
The IT volunteer helps a team of 4-5 students consider the implications of technology issues (staffing, systems integration, cost efficiencies, upgrades, etc.) in the merger and acquisition process. The advisor will spend the session helping teams think through the value of their IT and data.
Key concepts covered during this session:
• Company’s perceived role of technology (early adopter vs late entry)
• Reliance on IT for a competitive advantage
• Valuation of intellectual property assets
• Technical resources key to the ongoing operations
• Deal reliance on significant expense reductions based on IT synergies
• Deal reliance on merged or compatible infrastructure
Presentation materials provided

Shower Power Plus by Nurture HopeRecruiting Experienced Drivers, & Setup and Teardown Crew
We are searching for kindhearted people who want to contribute to creating a positive impact in our community to serve as drivers for our shower trailer serving our unhoused neighbors. These wonderful humans will become an integral member of our growing team.
Shower Power Plus has a 27-foot shower trailer to support our ongoing efforts to improve health and hygiene of our unhoused community. The tasks involved for the trailer set up on site are: (a) hooking up the trailer to a tow vehicle, (b) driving it to a deployment site within 10 miles, (c) leveling the trailer and (d) setting up the utilities by hooking up freshwater hose connection, hooking up grey water hoses and connecting them to the sewer sewer access dump pipe.
Other tasks for the set up team are to assist with removal of the items in the trailer and placing them on the deployment site. Then the team helps to set up the rest of the deployment site under the supervision of the Site Coordinator.
On-site Equipment Supervisor is part of the set up team who works with the driver and other set up team members to oversee the equipment side of the operation for the day. This person would fix issues as they come up (e.g, When a pipe becomes loose, or a fitting needs to be repaired or replaced, or the generators needs attention). Are you a handy person, or jack of all trades who would like to help us bring showers to our unhoused neighbors?
At the end of the deployment period the team will (a) disconnect the utilities including breaking down the grey water hoses, and detaching them from the sewer access point onsite, and detaching the freshwater hose (c) assist in the loading of the equipment for the deployment (b) reconnect the trailer to the tow vehicle and return the trailer to the storage facility.
The vehicle weighs 10,000 lbs and requires a ¾ to 1 ton tow vehicle. A commercial driver’s license is not necessary but experience in towing utility or recreational vehicles of comparable weight and length is desirable. Volunteers with or without their own tow vehicle are encouraged to apply. A valid driver’s license is required, a driving abstract, and a background check will be conducted.
Volunteer time commitments are estimated to be about 2.5 hours for delivery and set-up (7:30 AM until 1:00 PM) per event; keeping in mind that mechanical and personnel issues may cause variation in this schedule. Drivers and Setup Teams can be separate volunteers, as we build our team, we often have crossover roles.
Shower Power Plus provides insurance, fuel, training, and support for members of this team.
We are building a team of wonderful humans who want to give back.
