Junior Achievement is the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. The JA Bowl-A-Thon fundraiser helps provides the funding needed for these programs. The day of the event, volunteers are needed to help distribute materials, event set up/take down, staff assistance, hand out prizes, bowler check-in, and with handing out prizes awarded during each shift.

Opportunity Details

During the month of May Victory Garden Initiative builds over 500 garden beds for Milwaukee community members. Some of these new garden bed owners do not have any gardening skills. We are looking for Garden Mentors who we can pair with new gardeners to help them have a successful first growing season in their raised bed gardens. Anyone is welcome to join the program! You don't have to be a Master Gardener - just have some gardening skills.

We ask that our Garden Mentors attend a training session in April and meet with their "mentee" 5 times throughout the growing season (once per month from May - September).

Opportunity Details

We need help picking up barrels of fruit and veggie scraps from Whole Foods and bring them to our farm each day. The first few trips would be alongside our farm manager, but a volunteer could also take on this task on their own.

We typically pick up compost in late morning or early afternoon, but this is somewhat flexible. Pickups are every day except Sunday. Let us know if you can join and help us maintain healthy soil at our farm!
