GiftsToGive is fueled exclusively by volunteers – and we need you to join us! We have meaningful work for volunteers starting at age three. Seriously! Our youngest volunteers make art – wrapping paper for our birthday program. Older students inspect toys to ensure they work and have all their parts – and they’re so much better at it than adults! Teenage student fashionistas put together packages of well-coordinated outfits. Adults do everything from sorting donations to fixing things that break around the factory.
We have useful work for anyone and try to make use of the unique gifts that everyone has to give. Individuals and families may just “drop in” at the factory and we’ll put you to work.
•We open at 9am for volunteers, Monday-Saturday.
•We close at 2pm, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
•We close at 5pm, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Students 17 and younger must volunteer with a parent or guardian for their first time, we may make exceptions for future visits. We also have mentored hours, where parents are not required to accompany their children – these mentoring hours for students 17 and younger are currently Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 5 and Saturday from 9-2.
We encourage groups of all kinds and sizes. We can easily accommodate 100 volunteers per “work-shift”.
Please fill out our online volunteer form to inquire for yourself, family or friends or about bringing your group. (We know that forms are a pain, we also know that we can offer a better “volunteer experience” if we know who’s working – we can plan the day’s workload and match abilities to tasks!)

Over the years, WVCS has developed relationships with local grocery stores to provide clients with fresh produce and bread, things that many typical food pantries cannot provide. In order to provide these goods to clients, we need people to help us pick up these donated items and bring them into the food pantry. We are looking for volunteers to pick up donations from local grocery stories (using our company van or personal vehicle) and then deliver the goods to WVCS. This is a great opportunity for volunteers that like to get moving early in the morning or the afternoon, but might have limited time to volunteer.

The greatest beach party in the country is once again coming to Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse Square July 18–20.Yoshida's Sand in the City features fun for all ages with incredible sand sculptures, interactive youth exhibits, live music, entertainment and more!
The excitement begins on Friday, July 18th, when amateur corporate-sponsored teams have only six hours to build an elaborate sand sculpture, designed with the help of an architect and sand All Star. The teams will have trained and practiced for more than six weeks in an attempt to win the coveted Golden Shovel award. Competition is fierce on building day!
In addition to the visually stunning sand sculptures, Yoshida’s Sand in the City hosts outstanding activities for kids at the Children’s Inspiration Village. Families can interact with the Communities for Safe Kids puppets, experiment with science and do sand art projects! After enjoying food and drinks, kids can build their own castle in our giant Sand Box, have their face painted, or take in one of our live performances happening all weekend.
This year, Yoshida’s Sand in the City will award grants to 5 local children’s charities who do important work. The charities benefiting from this year’s event are: Angels in the Outfield-support for children that are victims of crime or child abuse; Forward Stride-after school therapeutic horseback riding program for children; Friendly House After School Program (Project Return)-an after-school program for at-risk children; Communities for Safe Kids-an innovative, educational program that draws from the latest research on violence prevention using puppetry.
Check out www.sandinthecitypdx.org for updated information on the weekend, to learn how to participate in the excitement and to learn more about the incredible organizations helped by this annual family event.

Hi, we are looking for someone to help us with our very first mobile autism app Autiknow with a product launch. It has recently been accepted into Apple iTunes, Google Play & AmazonSmiles. This app takes a child from early diagnosis through adulthood and is based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) which is the only evidence based methodology to teach persons with autism. We have successfully piloted the app in Boston Public Schools and have received 2 Software Trademarks. The app is intuitive, engaging, and a huge cost savings for school districts, parents/caregivers etc. One of the greatest features aside from the children's success is the built in Dashboard within the app that keeps massive amounts of data on the unique cognitive processes of each individual. We plan on making our data available to scientists, researchers, doctors, mathematicians etc in order for them to look at autism differently. We believe we are opening a new window into autism. We are not trying to cure autism but what are proving in our research is that given the tools (tech) at an early age these individuals with autism have the goods! Thank you for any support you may provide us. We are a very small volunteer non profit and are seeking consultations or support from anyone with expertise in a mobile product launch, PR & Marketing, Business Plan, Board Development and Development help in order to continue to pursue our mission.Available Shifts
