Alliance for Positive Change serves low-income New Yorkers with HIV and other chronic conditions. Annually, we distribute toys to families and children receiving services through us. Many of our participants cannot afford to buy toys for their kids and come to us to help provide support and joy over the holidays. Toys are distributed at our client holiday celebration, and we try to ensure any family needing a toy in December will receive one.Available Shifts

HELPERS SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION.What have we achieved?
Since inception in 2019, we have distributed school supplies to over 2500 underprivileged children in public schools, build toilet facilities in public school using open defecation, planted trees with pupils in schools without trees, established schools offering free education to out of school children, empower women through digital skills and many more intervention in rural communities in Nigeria.
2024 Primary focus area:
Helpers Foundation schools classroom building project.
School supplies
Sanitation and Hygiene project in public primary schools.
Volunteer Interested area:
We need fundraising volunteers to help us raise funds to continue to implement projects in the underserved communities in Nigeria.
HSDF Free School’s mission
“To create world-changers through the power of high-quality free education, love in action, and humble service.”
We focus on nursery and primary school pupils to impact these children through early intervention education
Helpers Foundation School’s Principles
Helpers Foundation schools will provide an excellent education to all students, regardless of their gender or demographics, so that they can become skilled and active future change agents in their communities. Teachers and parents will work together to ensure that students at the primary school develop rigorous critical thinking skills, and core values, and acquire enduring understandings of how to exercise appropriately.
Our school Plan: Our plan is to construct classroom blocks to enroll orphans and less privileged children who did not have the opportunity to go to school. We plan to buy plots of land to expand our school by constructing classroom blocks to enroll more pupils this will help us to be the original owner of the land with our school name. In the near future, we plan to construct secondary school blocks to ensure that the graduated pupils from primary school complete their secondary school education.
The Problem Nigeria project report:
Nigeria is among the top five nations in the world for out-of-school children of primary school age. Even more, 34% of children drop out of school before upper-primary school. Due to a lack of access, affordability, and awareness, children in rural areas are unable to receive the education to escape poverty. Unfortunately, this has a disproportionate impact on women and girls. More than 50 percent of girls fail to enroll in school, and those who do are likely to drop out by the age of 12. As a result, these children lack the skills to break the cycle of poverty.
In the communities where HSDF works, we have observed poor school infrastructure, child marriage, lack of teachers’ motivation by the Government, poor sanitation and hygiene, sex exploitation, and felt realities of the students, lack of vocational training, and low social standing of women. These are common obstacles to realizing the full potential that education can provide in Nigeria.
Your support for this cause will help us to achieve our goals in underserve communities.

We need weekly volunteers desperately. We have a warehouse that consistently has items that need sorted, priced, set out, moved, rearranged, and donations come in often and have to be sorted. We deal with furniture as well, so some of the items are a little heavy or awkward. We are looking for an individual or an organization that is looking to help underprivileged clients in our area.
We also could use volunteers to make deliveries to people without transportation to receive the necessary items to help Ease their Burden of poverty.
Any and all help is so greatly appreciated!

The holiday season is a season of giving back and a time when Second Harvest of Silicon Valley has an abundance of interest in volunteering. However, food insecurity occurs all-year round. Typically, they see a decline in volunteer participation in the new year.Based on the current need within the community (they are serving 500,000 neighbors every month!), they are anticipating needing about 14,400 volunteer hours to meet the demand in the new year. We are highly encouraging our local employees in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties to join Second Harvest in January and/or February for a volunteer shift. You can sign up on their website or you can set up a group reservation with Alicia Ruiz, aruiz@shfb.org.
