The Iowa International Center's annual gala event strives to showcase the importance and the achievements of Iowa's immigrant and refugee populations. Each year, we honor immigrants and refugees who have positively contributed to the cultural, economic, and social life of Iowa. We need volunteers to help make this event truly special for our honorees and attendees! Join us for a night of celebration while we honor individuals who have truly made a difference in this state.

Opportunity Details

Whim W'Him (Seattle contemporary dance company) is fueled by volunteers who commit time and energy to our nonprofit organization. We are looking for Front of House (FOH) volunteers for our 2018/19 Season.

WHAT: Volunteer tasks range from tearing tickets, selling merchandise, working at will call and helping patrons find their seats once in the theater.

WHO: Individuals who have an interest in contemporary dance, performing arts and are comfortable in a customer service environment.

WHEN: Dates range from September 7, 2018-June 15, 2019. Shifts are from 6-10PM optional 6-8PM shift if you do not want to stay for the performance.

BENEFITS: Volunteers get free tickets to the performance and exclusive behind the scenes access.

Each season Whim W'Him produces 3 evening length productions. Our theaters are the Cornish Playhouse at Seattle Center and the Erickson Theater Off Broadway. At both locations for each performance we need at least 7-10 volunteers.

Front of House volunteers are vital to Whim W'Him keeping operating costs low so that we can pay artists a living wage and provide audiences with high quality, affordable theater experiences. We believe that everyone should be able to enjoy the performing arts, our tickets range from $5-$15 for students and $30-$55 for general admission.

#NFStrong events take place in communities nationwide. These inspiring events create strong bonds that build a supportive NF community. The events are a great way to involve family and friends, meet others who are affected by NF, while raising awareness of this disorder and to create funding for NF research.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association is the world’s leading nonprofit health agency dedicated to finding treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other neuromuscular diseases.
Volunteers are the driving force that enables MDA to accelerate its worldwide research program and provide diagnostic and follow-up care through a nationwide network of 200 medical clinics.

MDA needs your help with various projects within the office to help us with upcoming events. We need volunteers to help call MDA families to participate in our muscle walk, prepare muscle walk team captain & registration packets, write walk postcards and thank you notes, call for donated items for our muscle walk and auction, make new patient packets, organize, answer the phone, filing and general event prep. We are very flexible to your schedule.
