Opportunity Details

Volunteers will be assisting the March of Dimes staff at an Ontario Reign Appreciation Night for our March for Babies teams. This night is a great night for our participants to see the impact of the March of Dimes in the community and to have a great time at a hockey game. Our goal is to paint the arena purple, so we will need assistance at the March of Dimes booth, assisting with raffle tickets, and other duties as needed.

At Junior Achievement, we give young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future and make smart academic and economic choices. Our corporate volunteers deliver hands-on programs that give k-12 students critical financial literacy, job readiness and entrepreneurship skills that are needed to be successful in our 21st century workplace. During the 2016-2017 academic year, we provided programming to over 14,100 students in the Rochester and Central NY region.

Our request is for Kohls associates to volunteer at one or both of the 2018 JA Bowl-A-Thon events. We would ask for associates to assist with set-up and registration (beginning around 5:00 p.m.) and to then participate as a Kohls Bowling team for our event. We ask for a minimum of 5 volunteers to insure that we meet the criteria for the Kohl’s charitable reward ( which would cover the costs of the bowling/pizza for volunteers) but would welcome more. Teams from Kohls volunteered last year and were great volunteers and fun bowlers!!

JA is solely funded by private and corporate donations. The JA Bowl-A-Thon is one of only three events Junior Achievement hosts annually. The Bowl-A-Thon is a popular event among our business partners, with over 500 bowlers—from more than 20 local companies ( including Kohls) - participating in 2017.

The Cranbury Education Foundation (CEF) is excited to celebrate the 21st Craft Show this year on Saturday, March 10 & Sunday, March 11! The mission of the CEF is to connect our community and our school to enhance the education of our children. The Craft Show is our largest yearly fundraiser and it provides the opportunity to achieve our mission by funding some exciting projects at the school. Most recently, the CEF purchased the new Salad Bar, a Projection Screen and Projector, and Aquaponics 2.0.

The Craft Show would not be possible without amazing volunteers who help year after year. We still have a number of volunteer opportunities for this year’s show and we hope you consider lending a hand. This is a great opportunity to volunteer with a friend or make a new friend!

We specifically need help in the following areas:
• Cafeteria – Last year, thanks to the amazing work of our Cafeteria Lead and our volunteers we raised over $3,000 in the kitchen alone. Your shift will fly by and you get to wear a hair net which is always fun!
• Admissions & 50/50 – Last year we had over 2,500 customers attend the Craft Show over the two days and we hope to meet or exceed that number this year. The 50/50 was a new addition last year and thanks to our 50/50 Lead and our enthusiastic volunteers the winners took home over $600 each day!
• Setup & Tear-Down – This isn’t a glamorous job but we need help preparing the school for the craft show and, after a long weekend, we need to get the school ready for classes on Monday. Our school facilities manager and his team do an amazing job throughout the weekend but we can always use more help. Please consider lending a hand!
