We are the Thunder City Derby Sirens. We are a non-profit, skater-run, skater-operated league based out of Deland, Florida. Our mission is to bring about positive change within ourselves and within our community. Our objectives as a league are to develop a passionate league dedicated to the sport of woman’s flat-track roller derby. We encourage athleticism and teamwork. Our league invests and participates in the local community and culture through donations, volunteering, and support. Our league follows the highest safety standards for our members. Roller derby builds and sustains camaraderie through team bonding opportunities. Roller derby provides an alternative form of entertainment to all ages and background. Roller derby is powerful for all those that participate. These games (bouts) are our major fundraising events though out the year allowing us to raise funds to cover costs like insurance, practice space, supplies. We also select a charity benefactor for each game, providing them a monetary donation based on attendance, the more people = the more we can give!

Our award winning, non-profit, community youth theater is run by volunteers. In recent years both our school year musical program and our Summer Experience program have had MANY students in need of scholarships. Unfortunately this means we have difficulty affording our theater rental and other needs.
We'd love to have someone experienced to assist us in raising the much needed funds to allow us to continue offering creative and performing arts programs to youth in our community.

The TCDE Benefit Auction and Performance will be held Saturday, March 24th, 2018 at Sacred Heart cathedral School. As a not for profit organization, TCDE depends on the generosity of local businesses, artists and craftspeople to donate the merchandise to be auctioned at our events. It is a great way for companies to come together and support the arts programs in Knoxville and be recognized in the community. Proceeds from the event go towards enabling the TCDE dancers to continue their goal to be positive role models to children everywhere. Through our "Children Helping Children" initiative, TCDE exposes children to dance who may not have access to the Arts. Throughout the year, TCDE performs for schools and for underprivileged and underserved communities all across the state of Tennessee. We also bring groups and individuals to our annual concert who may not have been exposed to a live arts performance before or who may not be able to afford a ticket.

Opportunity Details

Project Green is looking for 5 or more volunteers to help run the Project Green booth at the two day Alive Expo event over Earth Day weekend - April 21 & 22, 2018 at the Cobb Galleria Centre. The event hours are 10-6 on Saturday and 11-6 on Sunday. Any and all help is welcome. Alive Expo will provide food and drinks for all Project Green volunteers that help for 5 hours or more each day.
