For the past 25 years, the Taft Raider Band Boosters have provided volunteer staffing as monitors at the exhibit entrances for the Texas Music Educator's Association (TMEA) Convention at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in downtown San Antonio. This convention is the largest convention in San Antonio and is celebrating it's 100th year. With such an amazing accomplishment they are expecting approximately 20,000 people. The Taft Raider Band Boosters receive a large donation for their assistance in providing volunteers for this event which goes to support the Taft Raider Band program.  The contribution allows for the purchase of band equipment, instruments, clinicians and anything that is needed to support our students within the program. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age or older. We hope that you help us reach our goal!

Opportunity Details

The annual gala is the largest fundraiser to support the service projects of the Junior Service League. This year it is the Bootleggers' Ball, a 1920s themed event with live jazz music, dancing lesson, gaming tables, food and silent auction. Volunteers are needed to assist with the wine and whisky pull, tending the food tables, door security and other miscellaneous duties. We are requesting 6-8 volunteers to fill positions either 4:30pm-7:30pm or 7:30pm-10:30pm.
Location is the Port Theater, Port St Joe FL, 314 Reid Ave. Parking on the street, costume or black and white attire.

The annual fundraiser is to help our organization support those families and children on the Autism Spectrum that need financial assistance to provide educational, recreational and items that help families with daily living essentials. We will also utilize funding to help in classrooms catered to special needs and those childcare facilities that need more equipment that not only help care for those with autism but that are medically necessary in order to care for them.

The benefits of nature are endless: It provides us with inspiration, improves mental/psychological wellbeing, and is an outlet for many kinds of recreational activities, including camping, hiking, running, picnicking, and more. Yet, Salinas residents are at a disadvantage when it comes to accessing opportunities to enjoy these many outdoor benefits. In the city of Salinas, only 3% of the land is dedicated to parks, far below the California state average for other dense urban cities. Parks and open space provide the community with natural areas to create, be active, gather and socialize, and enjoy nature. It is more important now than ever to advocate for new community parks and open spaces in Salinas.

Big Sur Land Trust (BSLT) is partnering with several community organizations to carry out the third annual Take It Outside Salinas! event at Natividad Creek park in Salinas, California. Take It Outside celebrates the green spaces that the city currently offers and highlights the importance of advocating for new community parks and open space. This event also emphasizes the many benefits of outdoor recreation and provides opportunities for people to connect with nature where they live. Overall, the goal of Take It Outside Salinas! is to inspire the community through art and enjoyment of open space.

Take it Outside Salinas 2018 will take place on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Natividad Creek Park. Big Sur Land Trust is partnering with ten community organizations in Salinas to put on the event. Included in the festivities will be public live art, gardening workshops, a skateboard competition, culturally-relevant live theater performances, live music from Salinas youth groups, and tabling by various organizations involved in the outdoors, the arts, community health, and other assorted activities. This is an opportunity to showcase how art and public space are important community assets that provide immense benefits for public health, self-expression, and community building. Using the arts, community groups will engage the public and gain valuable insight from Salinas neighborhoods on future open space projects. BSLT’s newly-acquired 73-acre Carr Lake property will set the stage for community discussion and dialogue around what is needed and valued most in neighborhood parks.

BSLT needs YOU! to help us make this event a success! We need volunteers to help us with setting up the event, helping with parking, running community information stations, taking photos, and much more. No particular skills required, just ready hands and a willing heart. We are still confirming start and end times for setup and tear-down, as well as volunteer shifts. We prefer that volunteers stay the whole time, but we are willing to work with you if your time is limited.

WANTED: Volunteers, Sponsors and fundraisers for the March for Babies event in April.

The March of Dimes signature fundraiser, March for Babies, is an event that brings walkers, volunteers and sponsors together to celebrate their community. Coworkers, families, friends and celebrities participate to fight premature birth and give more babies a healthy start. Each year, about 20,000 companies and 3 million people take part in nearly 500 communities across the country.

National and local sponsors benefit from highly visible media and marketing campaigns, onsite activations and company team participation, amoung others. Here in Biloxi we had over 400 participants and raised over $140K last year.

We invite you to partner with us as we develop a robust program combining media, marketing and events to highlight your company.
