Every 4.5 minutes a child is diagnosed with AUTISM, according to the CDC. In fact, autism has become more common in our children than cancer, diabetes and AIDS combined! Join us as a volunteer and help B.I.A.N.C.A. create a brighter future for over 12,000 children with autism in San Diego County & their families.

B.I.A.N.C.A. is a 100% volunteer-run non-profit organization with no paid staff, dedicated to serving children struggling to cope with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). We provide help and give hope by providing reliable information, promoting best practices, and offering comprehensive resources for families, practitioners, and communities.

Please consider volunteering your time to help us raise the funds necessary to continue to help families in our community access critical services and much-needed support. We are looking for volunteers to help during our 10th Annual Golf "Fore" Autism Charity Golf Tournament. We have 2 shifts:

SHIFT 1 (noon to 5pm) will spend the day outside helping to keep score on a hole.

The Inaugural Reelin’ For Warriors Fishing Rodeo benefiting SWLA Veteran’s Association and United Way of Southwest Louisiana has been set for Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Calcasieu Point Landing. The weigh station will be open beginning at 2 pm. Anglers of all ages are encouraged to compete for prizes donated by sponsors and businesses. Fishing begins at 5 am and concludes at 2 pm with a family style awards ceremony at Calcasieu Point Landing.

“This is such a natural partnership because both are responding to the complex issues veterans face today. At the same time, both nonprofits want to see a growth in events where families can spend more time together outdoors,” said Denise Durel, President and CEO, United Way of Southwest Louisiana. “It’s the perfect way to teach children about giving back while spending time together and having fun.”

Two man boat teams are $150 and can be purchased online at unitedwayswla.org/fishingrodeo.

All participants must have a valid fishing license. Learn more about what type you need online at the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries online.

All boats must launch and weigh in at Calcasieu Point Landing at 3955 Henry Pugh Blvd, Lake Charles, La 70605. The boat launch is a three lane boat ramp that accesses the Industrial and Intracoastal Canals adjacent to nearby Turner’s Bay and Big Lake. Full rules and regulations for Reelin’ for Warriors can be found online and downloaded at unitedwayswla.org/rfwrules.

Sponsors, prize donors and event volunteers are needed. To learn more or join the event, contact United Way of Southwest Louisiana online. One presenting sponsor, Home of the Brave, will be sold and recognized in all media and signage for $7,500. Four other sponsor levels can be purchased. Learn more or purchase online at unitedwayswla.org/fishingrodeo.

“We’re planning to make this event a fun day for everyone and maybe a few surprise prizes like Biggest Birdsnest for those that get a few tangles. We have a Youth Prize for those who value fishing as their quality time with kids and many other things in the works,” said Allen Cormier, Outreach Coordinator, SWLA Veteran’s Association. “This community support will allow us to continue repairing hurricane-damaged homes of veterans, give back to our local community like we did at Bilbo Cemetery and Riverside Park, and host social events such as our yearly Veterans Day Fest!”

If you would like to hang a poster, donate a prize or other in-kind way to assist in the event, email liveunited@unitedwayswla.org.

Who We Are

Edu Child Foundation Uganda (www.ecfug.org) is a registered charitable organization based in Nebbi District (Uganda) with a strategic vision of creating a world in which children are empowered, protected, and given opportunities to live to their fullest potential. This we are doing by tackling illiteracy, early marriage, and poverty affecting the underprivileged in Ugandan rural communities.

Our current program areas include 1] the provision of education sponsorship opportunities for orphans and vulnerable children, 2] promotion of STEM education in rural communities served in Uganda, 3] advocacy for girl child empowerment, 4] micro-enterprise development for vulnerable groups, 5] community health, among others.

As an organization, we are always on the look for people who are excited about offering their time, skills, and resources to serve the yet vulnerable families in rural communities. We do this through our well-developed Volunteer Programme.

Edu Child Foundation Uganda relies on volunteers like you to help yet disadvantaged children, families, and communities in need to realize their dreams of enjoying holistic living. With help and support from volunteers, we are able to change the lives of children, vulnerable girls, and families in rural Uganda.

Who can volunteer?

We accept individuals, professionals, seniors, students, retired, couples, and anyone willing to make a difference in the lives of yet vulnerable children, and families in rural communities.

How long can you volunteer?

The choice is yours. However, in order to create a long-lasting relationship, we hope you can stay volunteer with us for at least 12 weeks. If you like it here, you can stay with us for up to a year.

CALL FOR GLOBAL AMBASSADORS

We need volunteers to take on the fun and inspiring role of being one of our Global Ambassadors. As our Global Ambassador, you will take on the noble cause of helping us in the mobilization of much-needed resources to enable us to continue with our fight against illiteracy, early marriage, and poverty affecting the underprivileged in the Ugandan rural community of Nebbi.

This is a self-led remote/virtual volunteering role where you will be able to draw on your creativity to complete fundraising challenges or events.

This opportunity is available to everyone and is especially great if you desire to support a community empowerment cause that is impacting don't he lives of the yet-underprivileged rural children, especially young girls whose futures are at stake due to social prejudice and abuses.

The sky’s the limit on how you can volunteer. Here are some ideas to get started:

• You can do a Sponsored walking or running challenge
• You can organize a fundraising brunch/lunch/dinner
• Set up a crowdfunding cause on our behalf
• Encourage your friends, family and followers to donate to our causes
• You can also do a spring clean, and an online auction of what you find.
• You can organize a speaking engagement at your workplace or church to share our causes with the people; among others.

To help you with all your fundraising efforts, we will provide you with all information you need for devising, promoting, and running your fundraising activities. ECFUG staff will be on hand to provide advice and support.

As a self-led role, you can decide how much time you want to commit. Our action plan is based on at least an hour a week for at least 12 weeks, but we welcome longer or shorter volunteering hours – whatever you think you need to complete your amazing fundraising project!

When you register your interest in this opportunity, we will get in touch to discuss it. If you have not heard within 14 days please email info@ecfug.org
