As a Special Events Volunteer, you will represent Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC (BGC) at a variety of events. As one of our wonderful ambassadors, we are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic personality who is passionate about serving their community. In this position you will often be our first contact with potential families, donors, and companies who want to get involved with us. You will be assisting in connecting with our target market by promoting BGC, and offering specific information on how we support children, youth and families throughout the Lower Mainland.

Events may be held by BGC, or by one of our incredible corporate or community partners in support of the work we do. At our own fundraisers, either the annual Club House Gala, or Comedy Club House, you will engage and assist attendees in a variety of ways, such as offering information, answering questions, and filling different roles like registration, welcoming guests, selling raffle tickets, minding auction displays, cashier duties, and more. At an event held by one of our partners, roles could include hosting an information table at a volunteer fair, accepting donations, and speaking about the work of BGC. In any role providing information about BGC includes speaking about our services, programs, Clubs, Camp, beliefs, values, mission, history, who we help, and why people might want to get involved with us.

Training, BGC t-shirts (where needed), brochures, and display materials will be provided.

Please get in touch with any questions you may have, or to register as one of our fantastic volunteers. We look forward to hearing from you!

MEN AND WOMEN CAN BE BOARD MEMBERS!
Mission Statement
"Enhancing the quality of girls’ lives by providing programming that builds integrity, respect and self-worth".

Our Vision

Our vision is to empower girls to become successful young women that exemplify the sum of our quality programming and the experiences that they have received by being a part of this girl serving organization.

Who We ServeWe currently serve girls from ages 6 to 18, elementary through high school in Guilford County, North Carolina. Our future target area includes all of North Carolina through affiliate groups.

Board Responsibilities
The nonprofit board of directors of Empowered Girls of North Carolina is the voluntary policy setting body that sets the direction for the organization. The board’s role is to act as a body, not as individuals, to hold an organization in trust. It must, according to nonprofit law, observe the duties of care (prudent decision-making), of loyalty (putting the organization’s interests first) and the duty of obedience (keeping faith with the mission, not performing the mission). It must ensure that the organization abides by the laws which apply. The board must work with the Executive Director to assure that the work of the organization is accomplished. The board must be faithful stewards with the resources that are committed by the public to the organization.

Our organization is sustained by contributions and grants from supporters. An effective board understands that it must take an active role in raising money, regardless of the amount of time the Executive Director devotes to resource development. The performance of board and staff in this area is intimately linked to the ability the trustees have to open doors, influence potential donors, and otherwise monitor and guide fund development initiatives. Effective fund development provides an avenue for linking a wider audience to the mission of Empowered Girls.

WELCOME TO OUR WORLD!
