The Elderly Care, Rural Development, and Education Support Volunteer Program aims to make a lasting impact on the lives of underprivileged communities in rural Bihar. Through this program, we seek compassionate volunteers to support our mission of providing essential care and dignity to the elderly, empowering rural communities, and improving access to quality education for children.

Goal/Purpose:

Elderly Care: Volunteers will help provide much-needed support to elderly individuals in rural areas who face challenges related to health, loneliness, and basic care. By offering companionship, assistance, and comfort, volunteers will ensure these individuals receive the respect and dignity they deserve.

Rural Development: Volunteers will contribute to various community development initiatives, focusing on infrastructure improvement, access to resources, and sustainable livelihoods for rural families. By working with local communities, volunteers will help create more resilient and self-sufficient rural areas.

Education Support: Volunteers will play a vital role in promoting education in rural Bihar by helping children access quality learning resources and mentorship. By providing support in schools, organizing educational workshops, and tutoring students, volunteers will help bridge the educational gap and create opportunities for a brighter future.

Why It’s Important:

This initiative is crucial because it addresses the interconnected needs of the elderly, children, and rural communities, all of whom face significant challenges due to poverty, lack of resources, and social isolation. By joining this program, volunteers will be directly contributing to building a more compassionate, educated, and empowered rural society, ensuring that no one is left behind.

Established in 2014, The Knowledge House (TKH) is a national workforce development nonprofit preparing overlooked talent for high-growth careers in tech. Starting in the South Bronx, TKH has expanded its programs to Newark, Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York City, and Washington D.C. Even after graduating, TKH offers wraparound support services to its alumni and fellows. Come help us to support the next generation of tech talent!

The Karim Kharbouch Coding Fellowship (KKCF) provides high-school students with paid opportunities to develop employable skills in STEM. This program is free, and offers participants a stipend during their summer instruction.

The Knowledge House wants to welcome volunteers to come visit our Los Angeles office, and see how we’re empowering the community through tech education! Tour our facility, meet our instructors, and see our fellows in action as they develop essential career skills.

We are seeking volunteers to come and speak to our fellows, and share insights about building a career in tech. This is an opportunity to reflect on your own journey, and give advice to fellows that will greatly improve their confidence and competence. Our fellows will also ask questions; questions are submitted via Q&A ahead of time, and we will share them prior to the event. Career instructors can provide insight about lesson content to inform discussion.

This event will occur in-person at our Los Angeles location.
