Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto (BBBST) works to build thriving communities by empowering lives through mentorship. BBBST uses mentorship to provide deeply needed support to children and youth facing adversity. We help them build up their socio-emotional skills and resilience so they can overcome life’s challenges and thrive in adulthood.

Fundraising is a powerful way to ensure more children in our community receive the mentorship they need to thrive.

Fundraise as an Individual:
• Set an activity or goal that friends and family can donate towards! Example: Running a half marathon, quitting smoking etc.
• Ask for donations in lieu of Birthday Gifts
• Donate a portion of your paycheck!

Host a Fundraising Event at your workplace:
• Bowling/laser tag: the team that raises the most money gets a prize!
• Skill-Swap Fundraiser: Host a lunchtime skill-swap where employees teach each other something new (e.g., yoga, cooking, or tech tips) for a donation. Employees attend sessions in exchange for a small contribution to BBBST.
• Charity Walk or Run: Organize a charity walk or run within your company. Employees can be sponsored by friends, family, or colleagues based on how many kilometers they walk/run during lunch breaks or over a set period of time, with all funds going to BBBST.
• Donation Matching: Encourage your company to match employee donations to BBBST. This could double the impact of your fundraising efforts and encourage more employees to get involved.

Opportunity Details

POPP is funded entirely through donations and fund-raisers. There are no paid positions, only volunteers. We rely on our volunteers to sit with animals during weekend adoption events at our Richland site or at Petsmart. Other individuals are trained at rescue, enjoy fostering, or might drive animals to and from spay/neuter clinics within the community. POPP also relies on volunteers at quarterly microchip clinics, the spring-time Pooch 'n Pal Walk/Run, the annual FurBall and at our mid-summer Lemonade Stand at the river. All monies donated year-round are utilized for rescue, fostering, spay/neuter, vaccinations, and testing.
