Description:
Fraser hosts a number of special events throughout the year, and we are always looking for volunteers to make a meaningful contribution. We may need volunteers to help with face painting at the Fraser Walk for Autism or assist with the silent auction at the Fraser Annual Benefit. We can accommodate groups of volunteers as well as individuals. Feel free to gather your friends or colleagues to tackle a volunteer project!

Qualifications

Minimum of 18 years of age.
Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
This is a Non-Driver position, meaning volunteers are not allowed to transport Fraser clients or tenants.

Opportunity Details

Rose Haven functions with a small staff that values and relies on volunteers on a daily basis. Our volunteers gain the privilege of serving, and being enriched by the incredible women and children who come to enjoy the community we create together.

Although Rose Haven hospitality is devoted to women and children, we have many opportunities for men to volunteer.

DIRECT SERVICE ROLES:
- Kitchen: Prepare food for guests in our warming kitchen.

- Kitchen Runner: Run freshly made dishes and coffee to the dining area.

- Food Table: Serve food and beverages to our guests in the dining area.

- Supply Runner: Work with staff to gather requested supplies for guests.

- Clothing Shop: Assist guests with their bi-weekly 20 minute shopping visit.

- Wellness Desk: Assist with cleaning showers between uses, and providing hygiene supplies.

- Guest Services: Assist front desk staff with admin tasks, getting our mail & answering phones.

- Kids Activities: Support family afternoons by providing fun activities for children.

- Float: Help out wherever is needed: supply running, donation support, etc.

- Clinic: Provide basic first aid & medical advice when we do not have nursing students onsite.

- Computer Lab: Supervise technology space, set up laptops and assist with online forms, printing, and other guest technology needs.

ORGANIZATIONAL HELP
- Donation Support: Sorting donations, restocking the shop, etc.

- Donation Reception: Assist with receiving donations at our exclusive donation drop-off door, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00-4:00 pm. Help carry donations in if needed, offer receipts and tours.

- Data Entry & Administrative Support: Help with admin tasks, and data entry projects.

- Development & Events Committee: Support our development team with event planning and fundraising. This is a great opportunity for folks who are looking for evening and weekend opportunities.

- In-Kind Donation Drive: Organize a donation drive in your community to collect underwear, leggings, or hygiene supplies… the possibilities are limitless!

*Male volunteers are limited to organizational help, kitchen, kitchen runner, and computer lab.

Once the application is completed, we will contact you about coming for an onsite orientation, which is generally held once a week. After orientation, you will need to complete a background check. Once that is clear, you will be ready to start volunteering in direct service roles.

In addition to individual volunteering opportunities, we also welcome corporate group volunteering. These opportunities involve non-guest facing tasks such as sorting and organization donations. They are scheduled for two hours on a Wednesday or Friday afternoon and we are usually booked out 1-3 months in advance. Please contact Dena at dbahar@rosehaven.org for more information.

Animal Cancer Foundation whose mission it is to fund comparative oncology research to find a cure for pet and human cancer seeks volunteer member(s) for Board of Directors to provide leadership in the financial life of the organization, serve as an ambassador for the cause, and join the Executive Director and Board Chairman in creating financial goals and plans for the organization. Seeking those with professional experience in business, veterinary medicine, human medicine, public relations, and/or fundraising who are passionate about advancing cancer research and have an affinity for animal health and welfare issues. Commitment to 6 one hour meetings per year, willingness to actively be an ambassador for the cause including raising funds, contributing a required minimum donation of $5,000 annually, good interpersonal skills.

Volunteer puppy raisers provide specially-bred puppies a safe home, take them to obedience classes, serve up a healthy diet, provide socialization opportunities, and give lots of love.

Each hour spent caring for a Canine Companions puppy is vital to its development as a future assistance dog. The puppy raising program provides a unique opportunity for volunteers to be an essential part of Canine Companions' mission.
