We are looking for an aspiring Instructional Designer to design and develop learning and practicing experiences. Are you passionate about learning new skills and teaching others? Then this role is for you.
Essential Tasks:
Designs and develops learning programs in accordance to CrowdDoing's Service Learning model.
The Junior Instructional Designer will work in consultation with the Learning and Development Lead or Senior Instructional Designers to initiate, develop, implement and evaluate CrowdDoing’s learning initiatives.
Assess training needs through surveys, interviews with volunteers, focus groups, or consultation with Learning and Development lead or Sr. Instructional Designers.
Design, plan, organize, or direct orientation and training programs for volunteers.
Obtain, organize, or develop training procedure manuals, guides, or course materials, such as handouts or visual materials.
Partners and collaborates with other departments to pilot or implement initiatives that require learning professional support.

People who live in cities and the communities that connect them can achieve goals through increasing their nature dose. Any country can embrace a national strategy of getting its people and institutions enough time in nature for the community to thrive. This has economic dividends, social capital dividends, mental health health dividends and physical health cost savings.
CrowdDoing has found small groups of trained professionals who know about specific nature benefits. There are people who have been trained in ""Attention Restoration Theory"", ""forest bathing"", ""eco-therapy"", ""nature deficit disorder reduction"", and other related terms. This has not be turned into a universal type of knowledge for any society to adopt in a modern context of majorities of the population living in cities and suburbs. There are examples of elements of biophelia as strategy, Singapore’s Airport, Milan’s Bosco Verticale. But the parks themselves are under-utilized globally by populations compared to their impact potential in cities.
CrowdDoing’s goal with Nature Counter is to create universal usable knowledge about what the benefits of nature dose are, how to access the benefits of nature dose and how to validate nature dose benefits for yourself. A world with more advanced processes to support nature dose could be more convivial, more resilient, have greater neuro-plasticity and would have faster learners and greater upward mobility among a plethora of benefits.
There is a user-centered design gap in nature in culture in that it is not discussed in terms of its benefits. Exercise may have an obvious connection to health but the fact that people sitting on a park bench are experiencing a scientifically established public health benefit is not universally understood. Scientists have been explaining this to other researchers but it hasn’t become universal knowledge any country in the world. No country currently recommends to all people in the country a level of nature dose to achieve basic human health goals the way nutritional recommendations are made by most countries. Nature dose empirically should be at parity with nutrition as an opportunity for established health interventions to achieve public health goals through interdisciplinary cooperation and education.

There are examples of elements of biophelia as strategy, Singapore’s Airport, Milan’s Bosco Verticale. But the parks themselves are under-utilized globally by populations compared to their impact potential in cities.
CrowdDoing’s goal with Nature Counter is to create universal usable knowledge about what the benefits of nature dose are, how to access the benefits of nature dose and how to validate nature dose benefits for yourself. A world with more advanced processes to support nature dose could be more convivial, more resilient, have greater neuro-plasticity and would have faster learners and greater upward mobility among a plethora of benefits.
There is a user-centered design gap in nature in culture in that it is not discussed in terms of its benefits. Exercise may have an obvious connection to health but the fact that people sitting on a park bench are experiencing a scientifically established public health benefit is not universally understood. Scientists have been explaining this to other researchers but it hasn’t become universal knowledge any country in the world. No country currently recommends to all people in the country a level of nature dose to achieve basic human health goals the way nutritional recommendations are made by most countries. Nature dose empirically should be at parity with nutrition as an opportunity for established health interventions to achieve public health goals through interdisciplinary cooperation and education.
National nature strategy involves:
Nature dose education for the learner.
Nature dose education for a person in a direct support role (friend, family member, teacher etc.)
Nature dose education for a person designing systems for others that need nature dose alignment- ie employers, administrators, managers, etc.
Nature dose for people who are communicating with people who have all of these roles- educating people who create culture on nature dose, etc.

Nature Flex time for employers features
Nature capacity building for educators about the benefits of nature dose (ie all teachers who could host outside could receive that ) features
Nature capacity building for access gaps in medical knowledge for nature dose for nature prescriptions by doctors, pharmacists and nurses features
Increase the percentage of the country getting nature dose features to increase adoption and habit building
Calculate the benefits to the health care system of their getting nature dose
Nature dose education for storytellers, filmakers, tv show makers, ie how does the local culture establish nature dose benefits and real, empirical, and multi-dimensioal.

1st Annual North Shore Outdoor Circle (NSOC) Workday at Waimea ValleyThe NSOC is inviting you to join us and help care for the beautiful Torch Ginger Alley Garden Collection
The NSOC are opening this special event to the public to give them a chance to work and learn with us in this beautiful part of the valley. We will spend the morning in Torch Ginger Alley, a garden collection that the NSOC adopted and maintain through Waimea Valley's adopt-a-garden program. You will work alongside Waimea staff and Outdoor Circle members to protect and maintain the many beautiful Ginger and Heliconia plants in that area.
This will be a great opportunity to get to know the NSOC a little better, be part of their mission to keep the north shore, "Clean, Green, and Beautiful". You will also have opportunities to connect with Waimea staff and learn how to care for the plants, identify invasive weeds, hear some interesting valley history, and more.
The NSOC adopted this garden through Waimea's adopt-a-garden program and their members have been returning every month to keep the area looking beautiful. This event is your chance to join the fun. It is open to the public, but space is limited so you will need to RSVP to attend.
The schedule for this volunteer day is:

9:15am Oli protocol and overview with Waimea and the NSOC
9:30am Volunteers head up to Torch Ginger Alley

*Snacks will be provided after the work and all participants earn free valley admission to explore and learn more about this beautiful and sacred place.
~Work will not be particularly strenuous, but it will be a fair distance from the visitors center to the worksite so be ready for a walk.

To reduce the risk of Covid, we recommend that everyone who visits here wears a mask in high traffic areas, when you are indoors and if you are not vaccinated, but as we are following state guidelines we do not require masks to be worn. We are also no longer requiring proof of vaccination to be shown for volunteers. We truly appreciate you being part of the effort to reduce the risks faced by our staff, visitors, volunteers and local community. As long as the Covid situation remains steady, we can continue with this current system, but some flexibility might be needed. If there are any cancellations or changes to the group size etc., I will send out an update to the volunteers. I appreciate your willingness to work with the uncertain nature of planning because we truly need the volunteers help here. We thrive with all of your help and aloha.

Meal Helpers play a critical role in this service by working alongside our culinary team to ensure the successful execution of comforting meals for families at the Ronald McDonald House near Lurie Children’s.Location: RMH near Lurie Children’s, 211 E. Grand Ave., Chicago, IL 60611
Key Responsibilities:
• Help execute meals planned by the culinary team by following recipes, prepping ingredients, cooking dishes, and packing or serving food.
• Maintain an organized and functional kitchen by cleaning after food preparation, emptying dishwashers, running sanitizers, restocking pantries, deep cleaning, and properly storing food.
• Manage the dining room during meal service by providing direction to guest families, upholding all safety measures, and consistently sanitizing and cleaning tables.
• If a Culinary Hearts volunteer group is present to prepare a meal during your shift:
o Act as a second-in-command to our culinary team, providing direction to and answering the questions of group participants.
o Support the culinary team in preparing for volunteer groups: gather needed supplies and ingredients, start on recipes, manage food deliveries, inventory supplies, and bring items to/from the kitchen and storage spaces as needed.
o Speak confidently to each volunteer meal group about their involvement, our House kitchen, and their impact on our mission.
Qualifications:
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Comfortable cooking and knowledgeable in the kitchen.
• Adept at cleaning and maintaining a high-level of organization.
• Ability to work confidently in a busy kitchen environment.
• Willingness to work professionally and collaboratively with volunteers and staff.
• Agreement with and alignment to all RMHC-CNI rules, policies and protocols, including adherence to all safety/participation requirements.
• Capable of standing for each three-hour shift, and able to carry 35 pounds.
• Volunteers must be dependable, trustworthy, friendly and flexible.
Time Commitment and Scheduling:
• Volunteers must commit to two set, recurring shifts per month for at least one year.
• Shifts are seven days a week, 10:00am-1:00pm, 1:00-4:00pm and 4:00-7:00pm.
Training and Support:
• Volunteers must complete an orientation session, background check and on-site shadow shift.
• Meal Helpers report to our culinary team and Volunteer Services Manager.
