WEConnect International will be hosting the Financing Your Growing Business Boot Camp for women business owners on April 25 and 26, 2022 in partnership with Moody's.

We are looking for volunteers to support this training, which helps to provide education and industry expertise on creditworthiness and how women business owners can position their business for capital input and growth.

As a volunteer, you can assist with either running the logistics of the Boot Camp and/or presenting a specific training session. The curriculum, on-boarding and training will be provided to all volunteers and presenters and note this training will be presented in English.

• General Volunteer: These volunteers will support the overall delivery of the Boot Camp, working with WEConnect International to moderate breakout sessions, monitor and respond to attendee chat questions, or assist the presenters. Volunteers should be familiar with Zoom, able to answer general questions about creditworthiness in support of subject matter experts and have experience in virtual facilitation/moderation and a basic knowledge of Nigeria.

• Presenter: These volunteers will act as subject matter experts and deliver a training session on a specific topic – credit, financial statements, goal planning, sources of financing, capital planning, how to pitch or enterprise valuation. The presenter will be provided a pre-designed curriculum in PowerPoint and have the opportunity to suggest enhancements if desired. Additionally all trainers will be offered group and one-on-one training with project leads to ensure confidence with the presentation and materials as well as an understanding of the audience demographics. These volunteers should have experience presenting these topics to adult learners and an understanding of how these topics are or can be applied in Nigeria.

Please note that this event takes place approximately 9:00am - 4:00pm WAT and you are only expected to attend the time you have selected and are not expected the full event time (but are invited to stay, if you so choose!). Note that session times listed in Benevity don't always convert correctly across time zones. All volunteers will be sent a formal calendar invitation from WEConnect International. This invitation will be the correct time and you will be asked to ignore any automated updates or calendar invitations from Benevity.

Canada has successfully offered the Financial Boot Camp for three years; 2019 in person in Toronto, 2020 virtually over two days, and 2021 virtually over four half days. Going in the fourth year, Canada has been selected to run a Pilot Project to explore a new format of the training.

The new format will consist of offering the program as a series of independent weekly webinars (via Zoom) over a 7-week period. Each webinar will be one of the learning modules in Moody’s current boot camp program but adjusted slightly to reflect the standalone format.

This training for women business owners allows them to choose the opportunities most closely tailored to their specific needs. By offering a series of independent webinars, we believe that we will attract a different type of learner than we have in the cohort-based years. The results of the pilot in Canada will serve to inform future offerings.

We are currently looking for subject matter experts that can present each module (~2hrs each) with a short welcome, the content followed by Q&A and optional networking time at the end. Topics occurring each week, over the course of two months include the below.
Volunteers can select one or multiple modules to present. All training materials including a presentation and facilitator guide (with activities) will be provided and one on one sessions for coaching and Q&A will also be provided as requested.

Topics:
1 - The Importance of Creditworthiness
2 - Financial Management
3 - Readiness to Grow
Goal Planning
Growth Capacity and Options
4 - Sources of Financing
Exploring Sources
Risk Analysis and Due Diligence
5 - Capital Planning
6 - Pitching your Business
7 - Enterprise Valuation

The Event: The MS Brissie to the Bay isn’t just a ride – it’s a powerful movement to change lives!
For 35 years, thousands of cyclists have tackled Brisbane’s scenic bayside routes and challenging hills, riding for a cause that truly matters. But this event wouldn’t be possible without our incredible volunteers!
By volunteering, you’ll play a vital role in supporting riders, ensuring a smooth and safe event, and helping raise essential funds for services, support, and research for those living with MS and neuro conditions.
Join us and be part of something bigger – because together, we can create a better future. Sign up to volunteer today!

Date: Sunday 15th June, 2025
Event site: Musgrave Park, South Brisbane
Course Marshal Locations: Brisbane, South Brisbane, Norman Park, Morningside, Wynnum, Wellington Point, Cleveland, Belmont, Carindale, Norman Park, Cannon Hill, Redland Bay, Victoria Point.
The Roles: Our Event Day Volunteer roles are many and varied – we have on course roles, such as course marshals and refreshment station assistants and event site roles, such as start line marshals and merchandise handlers.
Shifts are varied dependent on the exact role, however the event runs from 5:00am – 2:30pm, so the shifts will be within this time frame.

The MS Brissie to the Bay ride is a fundraising event run by MS Queensland. MS Queensland is a leading provider of holistic services for people living with a neurological condition. Building on over 65 years as the peak body for multiple sclerosis (MS) in Queensland, we’re committed to ensuring people with neuro conditions can live better lives.
We do this by building community and human connection, driving neuro wellness, raising awareness, and delivering integrated services to support health, wellbeing and education.
The money raised by the MS Brissie to the Bay participants enables MS Queensland to provide critical programs and support for the increasing number of people diagnosed with neurological conditions. Together, with your support as a superstar volunteer for this event, we can stop MS and neurological conditions stealing the very best of people’s lives.
What we’re looking for in a volunteer: We’re looking for people who are friendly and approachable, always smiling, and prepared to give our participants the best event experience ever. You must work well under pressure, be willing to take direction, and think on your feet. Speaking of feet, you will be standing on them for the duration of your shift, so you should be comfortable with this, too.
We recommend that if you select an on-course Event Volunteer role that you look to pair up with a friend – it’s always more fun with company on course.
