We are reaching out in the hopes that you will be able to support our 29th annual Prom Boutique, a gown giveaway program for graduating seniors of families unable to absorb the expense of a new gown for their daughter’s prom or graduation event. New and gently used dresses, accessories, shoes, and jewelry as well as new make-up are distributed free of charge to attendees who are referred by guidance counselors, social workers and at risk youth programs across Long Island.

We are hosting an in-person event at the Nassau County Police Department Center for Training & Development in Garden City, NY on April 9 that will accommodate over 350 young women. Due to pandemic impact, last Spring we instituted a hybrid process to provide gowns to high school and youth program agency contacts via on-line form and curbside pickup from our storage facility and disseminated over 500 gowns. This is a community service project with Nassau County Police auxiliaries Community. We create a pop-up boutique for the young women to experience a free shopping event designed to recognize and honor their hard work--they stayed in school under very trying circumstances and will graduate with pride. Now they can attend their graduation celebration in style, heads held high--they've earned this!

FOR MORE INFO AND TO SIGN UP: https://www.codepath.org/volunteers/technical-interview-coaching

CodePath.org is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit increasing diversity in tech by transforming college computer science education for underrepresented minorities and underserved populations.

We partner with Microsoft, Facebook, and other tech companies to create modern, job-focused courses which we integrate into existing computer science programs in 70+ colleges and universities across the U.S. We have taught over 10,000 students since 2017, with thousands of our alumni now working in SWE roles.

Our most popular offering is the Technical Interview Prep course -- we need help from engineers and tech professionals.

The 12-week course relies on volunteer coaches who help guide a small group of students through practice problems and mock interviews. Over the course of the program, you will build a relationship with your students and become a professional resource for them as they begin their career in tech.

Will you join us this fall? We are looking for live virtual mentor support for 1 hour per week for 9 weeks on Saturdays (10.30am PT / 1.30pm ET). Training is provided before the launch and support from CodePath is provided throughout the duration of the course.

Benefits for volunteers:
- Opportunity to give back and address systemic bias in tech
- Ability to form connections with high achieving CS students looking for internships and full-time jobs
- Training and continued support by CodePath staff to improve communication and teaching skills
- Performance feedback from students
- Low weekly commitment of 1-2 hours per week for 9 weeks this fall

The Lemons family, along with many of their closest friends are hosting an event on Saturday, April 30th, 2022 to celebrate Michael's birthday and raise money for Kellsie's Hope. Michael's Birthday Bash is sold out! There will be 360 people in attendance. Attendees will be treated to dinner, drinks and live music. A silent auction will take place throughout the event along with other fundraising activities.
Our family had planned for years to go skydiving in Las Vegas to celebrate Michael's 21st birthday. We thought the trip might not happen because of Michael's battle with cancer. Kellsie's Hope made our dream a reality without Michael having to be concerned about the costs. That peace of mind for him, along with anticipation of going to Vegas, forced cancer to take a back seat in the months leading up to the trip. We created so many memories on our trip we will cherish forever. Because of the genoristy of many after Michael’s passing, and the money he had in his bank accounts, we were quickly able replace funds used for our trip. It was important to Michael that we continue to support this wonderful organization so other families who have children battling cancer can have something to look forward to and create special memories of their own.
We could use volunteers for our event from 6pm-11pm on April 30th, as well as set up on Friday, April 29th.
