YouthHope Foundation is announcing our 9th Annual “A Walk in Their Shoes” benefit dinner to help raise funds for our youth programs. The benefit dinner will be held on Thursday March 5th at the University of Redlands, Orton Center. The event will include “A Walk in Their Shoes” visual journey, monologues of our youth’s personal stories, testimonies from our youth about YouthHope, and words from the Executive Director: Heidi Mayer. It will be an evening allowing guests to better understand the youth we serve.

Opportunity Details

CASA is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides lay volunteer advocates for children who have been abused and neglected are in placed in foster care through our county's juvenile court. CASA is a national program and local programs align with the court jurisdiction. Hence, we advocate for those children who have been removed from a Forsyth County, GA home. We are currently serving about 170 children locally although there are about 8000 kids in foster care throughout the entire state of GA. Sickening numbers, right? The CASA Superhero Hero 5K/Little Hero 1K Fun Run is our annual fundraiser to raise funds for our non-profit program so we can do our work: provide recruitment, training and support for current and additional advocates to be "the voice" for these kids in the system. We work separate from DFCS although we try really hard to work collaboratively with the Department in doing what is in the "best interest" for every child placed in their custody due to no fault of the child! This is our 12th annual event! Many of our foster children and their foster families participate in the Superhero Run but it is also a community event. The Superhero 5K is held in Forsyth County, just off GA 400 at Exit 13 in the Academy Sports parking lot at The Collections Forsyth.

We would love for you to join us as we raise funds to provide more advocacy efforts for the abused and neglected children who are in foster care.

My family will be holding a fundraiser in honor of my daughter, Rachel Smith, who was born with Down Syndrome on March 21, 2012. The event will be a spaghetti dinner held at the Baden United Methodist Church on Rachel's 8th Birthday, Saturday, March 21, 2020. Over the past six years, we were able to raise more than $43,000 for the DSAP. We are hoping to add at least $10,000 to that total this year
