CrowdDoing Medicinal Foods Citizen Science Team Volunteers , CrowdDoing is aiming to help people test what foods achieve medicinal function through citizen science and user medicinal food individual testing. CrowdDoing has had more than 3000 volunteers apply to help it with a variety of social innovations. CrowdDoing was co-founded by Match4Action and Reframe it.Almost everyone has heard the phrase ""An apple a day keeps the doctor away"" . In most of the world’s cultures there are food items which are known to have specific health benefits. Such traditional knowledge has not received the level of scientific investigation that it could have. As a consequence, when we need a solution for a health-related problem, we only have pharmaceutical drugs to go to.
There is a growing movement called ""citizen science"" where citizens contribute to and become part of the scientific investigation process. Citizen science utilizes the power of the diversity and (large) number of citizens.
The ""Medicinal Foods"" project in Crowd Doing has two goals:
Use citizen science to gather and validate data about the different foods and food-preparations from both traditional knowledge and current scientific enquiry.
To make such data available for use by anyone in the world through online apps.
