Our 5th Annual Hangout for Hendrix will be on Sunday, August 14th, 2022 at the Heritage Museum of Orange County. This event is put on by our non-profit, 501(c)(3) BraveOnes Foundation (braveonesfoundation.org). Our foundation is dedicated to raising resources and awareness for Children in Need so that they may experience the Joys of Being a Child.

This event is in honor of our first BraveOne, Hendrix, who passed away in 2017 at the tender age of 1. This little warrior encountered several health challenges (he had 12 specialists) and Children’s Hospital of Orange County was his home away from home. In addition, this year's event will also focus on providing help to those children who have experienced mental health challenges due to the global pandemic. All proceeds from the event will contribute to our Meaningful Meals and Toys for Joy Programs, as well as, CHOC’s Neuroscience Department and Mental Health Initiatives.

The Hangout for Hendrix event is a family-friendly music festival that includes multiple bands, food trucks, arts n' crafts, a nature walk, face painting, magician, a silent auction, corn hole tournament and so much more. All children will be given a passport to take to the various activity centers to earn stickers. Once a child completes their passport they will be rewarded with a sweet treat.

This 6 hour event will require the help of many, so we are grateful to anyone who would like to join our BraveOnes Tribe so our event is both an enjoyable and a rockin' success.

Summer Santa is partnering with Kohl's in Southlake, Texas to take 163 children ages 7-14 in Northeast Tarrant County shopping for back to school. Summer Santa gives each child accompanied with a chaperone $125 Kohl's gift card to shop for back to school clothing. Because of the Kohl’s sales each child goes home with bags of needed items. The children that shop are experiencing life-changing challenges in their every -day life. Many of the shoppers have experienced or witnessed abuse/mental or physical, death of a parent, foster care and personal illness or just challenged by everyday life. The Kohl’s volunteers will serve as cashiers and assist children and their chaperones with clothing selection.

The first day of school is an important day for a child. Meeting a new teacher and new friends is a little scary for children. Summer Santa wants them to start it right wearing new clothes and carrying a backpack full of school supplies.
