Dystonia is a brain disorder, much like Parkinson’s, that causes muscles in the body to contract and spasm involuntarily. Physical symptoms may impede the ability to walk, sit upright, speak, or even see. There are multiple forms of dystonia and the disorder affects children and adults of all ages and backgrounds. The Pittsburgh Dystonia Zoo Day is an exciting event set to take place at the Pittsburgh Zoo on September 8, 2019. This special event will benefit the work of the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation (DMRF).

UPDATE: we've nailed down the dates for Pick-a-Pear-a-thon and will be harvesting twice a day from Omega Farm 8/25-8/31, and from Foley Community Orchard 9/2-9/8.

Pick-a-Pear-a-thon is Urban Abundance's biggest harvest event and fundraiser of the year. With two orchards that have about 500 Bartlett pear trees between them that all ripen at the same time, we will be working night and day to harvest as much fruit as possible over two weeks to donate to Clark County Food Bank, and we need all the man-power we can get!

Last year, with the help of our volunteers, we donated 9,000 pounds of fresh fruit to the food bank in these two weeks! All volunteers get to take Bartlett pears home with them after the event, and it's a great way to spend a day out in nature in a beautiful pear orchard.

These harvest events are free, family friendly, and a great opportunity for companies looking to do a community-service day with their employees. Come one come all!

One of the main reasons to attend a cancer walk is to show support. One way to show our support to those affected is that you are part of the fight. If you have family and friends who are survivors, then the best way to show that your support is by joining in the campaign. You will be part of the people in the world who are committed to fighting the disease just by showing that you are concerned. There is no better way to show your concern than by attending a walk.

Cancer walks are organized to create awareness of the diseases. Many people are not aware of the impact of cancer, and information needs to be spread. Any uncertainty of this disease is very dangerous because this is what is hindering the fight against cancer.
By taking part in the walk, you will get an opportunity to learn about the diseases and also share what you have learned with others. This is the best way to create awareness and prevent myths and misconceptions.

Keeping fit is one of the reasons to participate in a breast cancer walk. You need to keep fit because this is one of the ways you can prevent cancer and also other types of cancer. By participating in the walk, you will get time to exercise, and you will be doing it for a good course.
