On June 8, you can help us Step Out at the 9th Annual Northern Colorado Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma Walk. Stepping Out Walks are the foundation’s signature events and are happening all over the country in June. As a volunteer, you will be donating your time and talent to help our organization. Get your friends and family to volunteer and start your day out early, volunteer then enjoy the rest of your day at Fort Collins City Park at the pool! The Scleroderma Foundation has a mission of support, education and research. There are over 300,000 men, women and children living with scleroderma in the United States. Scleroderma is a chronic, progressive autoimmune disease that has no known cause or cure. At the Rocky Mountain Chapter we support the foundation’s mission by (1) providing educational and emotional support for scleroderma patients, their caregivers and families through support groups, peer-to-peer counseling, doctor referrals and education, (2) promoting public awareness of the disease and providing education within the medical community and (3) raising money to fund research at the national level to improve upon treatments and ultimately discover the cause and cure for scleroderma and related diseases.
Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing, dress in layers as the temperature may change during the day and bring your own rain gear. All volunteers will be provided with a yellow volunteer shirt to be returned at the end of the walk. You will also receive an event shirt to keep.
You may sign up for more than one volunteer position as long as times do not overlap. For example if you sign up for set-up early in the morning, you can also sign up to help later with handing out t-shirts or assisting at the breakfast table. Ending times are approximate.
Thank you for considering a volunteer position with the Scleroderma Foundation Rocky Mountain Chapter.
