Do you want to inspire students to reach their goals this season?

More than 2,900 middle and high school students in Students Run LA (SRLA) are training alongside their teachers to complete the Los Angeles Marathon in March 2024.

SRLA students are currently in the midst of long marathon training miles and could use a little motivation… that’s where YOU come in!

We are asking supporters to write “Motivational Valentines” to SRLA students, encouraging them to keep moving forward towards the marathon finish line in March as well as the graduation stage in May.

These personal notes mean so much to our students. You can inspire and motivate a student to help them achieve their marathon dreams.

Here’s how to send your Motivational Valentine:

1. Write 1 (or more!) card or letter to a Students Run LA student encouraging them to keep on running! Please do not address these to a certain individual, they will be passed out randomly to students. Here is an example of what your Motivational Valentine might say:

Hi SRLA Runner,

Great job sticking to your training and staying committed during this tough season. You are awesome! Good luck at the marathon. Remember, if you put your mind to it you can do anything!

Our staff will interview you and see what type of volunteering you are looking to participate in based off your skills, availability and interests. A few days later, we will reach out to you with multiple opportunities that fit within your answers.

All interviews will be done on the spot with light snacks and beverages provided.

Opportunity Details

The Fundraising Committee makes decisions and formulates recommendations about project proposals and fundraising campaigns. It monitors progress of the Collection’s financial capacity and sound funding of its key programs: Collection, Conservation and Education.
The Committee plans, promotes and holds fundraising activities on behalf of the Collection. More specifically, the Committee:
 Sets goal, targeted audience and critical path for each campaign, solicitation and funding request held occasionally and that may target partners, foundations or businesses;
 Plans campaign logistics, in collaboration with other Collection committees and people responsible for advertising and marketing;
 Monitors campaigns’ progress and makes adjustments as needed;
 Reviews process, success and shortfalls at the end of each campaign;
 Prepares publicity, articles and reports on campaigns and solicitations;
 Manages the Collection’s account dedicated to fundraising on CanadaHelps.
 Identifies and maintains ongoing relations with donors and sponsors.
This volunteer position will accommodate people with accounting, communication, sales or marketing background.

MLK Day of Service project. This year we will paint a Light Box in honor of Mr. Donald Richardson, Legendary Band Director of the Andrew J. Bell Marching Crusaders He was a culture bearer in Treme neighborhood. Donald Richardson created a band program at Andrew J. Bell Junior High School that would help fuel New Orleans’ brass band revival in the late 1900s. Prior to the 1960s.black schools weren’t allowed to march in Carnival parades.

As desegregation allowed, Richardson built the Marching Crusaders into a powerhouse. .They practiced before school at 7:15 a.m., after school, and on Sunday afternoons. Mr. Richardson sometimes directed the band from the second floor of the fire escape overlooking the Bell courtyard. He trained many of the popular musicians in New Orleans. You can participate in our MLK Day of Service by volunteering to draw or paint (skilled volunteers), sharing our newsletter, or making a donation to support this project.

Bri's Lodge hosts an annual fundraiser. This year, it will be on April 6, 2024 in Sartell! Our theme is "Hope Grows Here." We need help setting up the day of the event and helping with games of chance throughout the evening. Time commitment for all opportunities is flexible. Our monetary goal for our fundraiser this year is to raise $45,000. We only have one full-time and one part-time employee, so we rely heavily on our amazing volunteers for events like this! We would love to have your support and to teach you about Bri's Lodge and our work in the community!

Introduction: The Midwest Brain Injury Clubhouse (MBIC) is seeking experienced and dynamic individuals to join our Board of Directors. As we navigate through a period of transformative change and growth, we need board members who are passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of diverse communities, including those with disabilities, veterans, and the elderly.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide strategic leadership and governance to MBIC in collaboration with the Executive Director.
• Engage in hands-on efforts at the grassroots level, actively participating in branding, marketing, and board management initiatives.
• Offer expertise in legal aspects of organizational structuring, expansion, and business type modifications.
• Drive fundraising efforts, leveraging extensive networks for resource mobilization and partnership development.
• Advocate for policy changes and legislative actions that align with MBIC's mission and services.
• Independently manage and execute assigned tasks, demonstrating accountability and initiative.

Qualifications:
• Prior experience serving on boards, with a strong understanding of nonprofit governance.

• Background in law, particularly in areas pertinent to nonprofit operations and growth.
• Strong networking and fundraising skills, with a capacity to engage corporate and community stakeholders.
