We love welcoming corporate volunteers for their volunteering days.
We welcome groups of 8-10 people and ask for a donation of £350 which we use for extra coordination time on the day and to pay our utilities.

Lifeafterhummus operates a social supermarket, re-use centre and redistribution network for local residents and redistributes 5T of surplus food per month to 11 local hostels, 1 local after-school club, 1 faith group and 80 local families.

Come and spend the day under the supervision of our coordinators and volunteers learning about waste prevention whilst supporting the local community.
What can you expect:
You'll be collecting surplus from nearby stores on foot using hand carts.
Sorting thru the supplies inside the centre.
Helping with any tasks that are needed including dealing with light cleaning.
Going out on foot to redistribute the surplus you've collect to nearby hostels.

Opportunity Details

Power of the Purse is a raffle-style fundraiser where purses and contents worth a minimum of $150 each are raffled off to benefit women and children initiatives within Steuben County. We receive over 75 purse donations and the event is held as lunch and dinner events. It's a fun, collaborative event that brings awareness to initiatives in our County and raises funds to help support them.

Join us at the lake in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters! As the leading youth mentoring organization in the US, BBBS helps ignite the potential of Central Georgia youth by providing professionally-supported award winning mentoring programs. The 12th Annual Dragon Boat Races and Beach Party is the signature fundraising event for Big Brothers Big Sisters. We have a variety of volunteer activities available both on September 21. We welcome volunteers 16 and older. Younger students ages 11+ may volunteer when accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Share their journey of empowerment, detailing how they formed collectives and harnessed local resources. Use videos to capture their day-to-day activities, featuring interviews that convey their determination and transformation. Complement this with blogs that delve deeper into individual stories, exploring the impact on their lives, families, and communities. Incorporate vibrant images showcasing their products and interactions at the Happiness Café. #Give2023 – The Swavalamban model, emphasizing self-reliance, aims to ensure continuity and sustainability within Vatika community ecosystems, spanning 1-2 villages with around 1200-1500 rural families, led by women producers. To achieve this, the concept of a Happiness Café is introduced - a communal space fostering collectives and communities. This Café serves as the office for forming and nurturing collectives, enabling growth from individual to collective. It supports women's empowerment through Swavlamban Samiti(committee), promoting their livelihood, micro-enterprises, and holistic growth. The Happiness Café's five pillars include soulful meals, interdependent learning, abundant resource sharing, wellness circles, and storytelling. Partnerships between urban and rural Cafés and collective networking enhance resources and energy flow. By connecting individuals, celebrating local culture, and promoting sharing, the Happiness Café strengthens the sustainability of Vaibhavi collectives and Swavlamban Samitis in Vatika communities.

Required infrastructure includes audio-visual centers, marketplaces, and discussion rooms. This is where we could use financial help. And a typical set up of “Rural Happiness café” would be about $ 10K

Each cafe is uniquely rooted in the local spirit of people and place, promoting local culture and holistic wellbeing. It’s a physical meeting place for collectives, by collectives - to connect, care, act and celebrate. The Happiness Café's five pillars include soulful meals, interdependent learning, abundant resource sharing, wellness circles, and storytelling.

It’s about designing happy and sustainable solutions through collective engagement and taking responsibility of collective action. The Cafe space along with our online platform (Ekyam.org), also empowers collectives to take local action by connecting with diverse global collectives working for a happier world and organizing regular workshops, events and challenges. Its sharing what you have in abundance with others/collectives who have the need for the same. It could be as simple as an employee sharing MS office skills virtually with a women collective in India that needs a tutorial on the same or sharing used laptop with a rural woman entrepreneur who has the need for it. It could also be like.. sharing toys with a local underprivileged children’s home or teaching how to use smart phone to elderly at an assisted living.
