On April 28, James House will assist our community partners hosting beverage sales, a 50/50 raffle, and a game and information table. This event is a prelude to our fall event that is the biggest fundraiser of the year that benefits survivors of domestic abuse, sexual abuse, and stalking in the Greater Tri-Cities Region. We need volunteer help to make this event a success. We are hoping to build excitement about our fall event and successfully raise funds working in the community while educating people about our mission. There will be food vendors, sales vendors, and live music.

We are hosting a benefit cook off competition with Colonial Harley-Davidson. Vendors compete to cook their best outdoor foods. We have live music, prizes, and vendors. This is going on during Colonial Harley-Davidson's spring open house. This is James House's largest benefit fundraiser of the year. Last year it took over 100 volunteers to make this event happen. We would greatly appreciate support. For this event, there is a diversity of positions available.

The Petersburg Sheriff’s Office, Petersburg Task Force on Domestic Violence, and James House will hold the 2018 Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event on Saturday, April 7 at Cameron Field, 909 S. Sycamore Street, Petersburg. Enter Cameron Field from Graham Road.

We need help with the registration table, waiver table, a table where walkers create a poster, 50/50 sales, and shoe organization during the event.

We are collecting new and slightly used women's shoes, especially sizes 10 and above. Donations of shoes can be brought to James House. At the event the shoes are lined up on the bleachers and men select high heel shoes to wear while they walk their mile.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is an international men’s march to stop rape, sexual assault, and gender violence. Visit www.walkamileinhershoes.org for more information. This is an outreach event and a fundraiser for James House. It is a community collaboration with the Petersburg Sheriff's Office and the Petersburg Domestic Violence Task Force.

We are looking for individuals, families, and teams to register. We often have work teams, college teams, civic groups, and military units. Each walker will donate $10 to walk a mile in her shoes. All proceeds will go to James House to benefit local survivors of sexual violence. To volunteer or for more information contact Anna Cahoon at 804-458-2704, anna@thejameshouse.org for further event information.
